Delete PM Messages - How?

Post by library lady » Sat Jul 05, 2014 5:16 pm

I can't figure out to delete PM messages that are no longer needed... especially the scam messages that came in today... I tried to mark them and right-click to delete, but the option to delete did not appear.

Tick the boxes on the right, that you want to delete. Then down at the bottom of the PM's is a box that says Mark/Unmark as important. If you click on the down arrow, you will see the option to delte messages. Click on the delete messages and then hit go.

This sequence of PMs is a way of bypassing the ability to flag a post as spam.
It appears to be an automated system since, after I deleted it, I just got a new one.
What they appear to want is your email address.

So ... Don't open it. That sends a message that you looked at the message by showing it gone from their outbox. Don't delete it, same thing.

Hopefully, the board managers will notice soon and delete the userID.

My private message about the latest spammer to Carolyn is still sitting in my outbox. I imagine that the Goodmans are away for the holidays. Rest assured that as soon as Carolyn finds out about it that the spammer will find themselves blocked. The Captcha thing was supposed to prevent this sort of thing but it sounds like someone is really wanting to spam us and either going through a lot of Catchas or they have found some way to circumvent the Captcha system.
Either way Carolyn finds this sort of thing even more annoying than we do and she will undoubtedly get with her IT team to try to sort out how this one got past the defenses.

I may have gotten the same thing.
The users name is soukeyna, and with no posts, appears to be phishing for email addresses.
I am ignoring this unknown person for the time being.
I advise others to do likewise.
