have figured out a little more... man, this is getting interesting and I believe way beyond what most people are willing to try... unless we come up with a way to rewrite the javascript to "see" all data on the card...

But, its a mission now......

they have made the webpage and the only part that the webpage see's is the DCIM folder on the card.. it has a "general.js and a lang.js file structure that tells the webpage what to view.. those files are hidden in the sd card directory..

The file that is not hidden is the config file to set up the WIFI, this is what it looks like..

Bingo!

Some bad operating systems will write data to the card without asking and the S9 machine will barf when it sees the extra data. Win 8.1 (I think) has been reported to do this. Some people have reported that some Macs do this as well. Viruses sometimes will write to the card and mess it up. There are some "helpful" programs like music players that scan through a card when you put it in the SD slot to look for some sort of file it needs to do something with and they might decide to "helpfully" put some sort of file on the card to keep track of things. User stupidity can mess the card up, too.

Luckily, I'm not using Windows 8. I never lock the card, or even bother to "safely remove." In theory, you don't need to safely remove unless you write data to the card.

I almost always copy the entire card to a directory when I stick it into the machine, so even if the card gets damaged, I haven't lost much. I'm also not fighting an insurance company over compliance records.

As to whether you should, your call. Consider what harm it would do if you accidentally damaged the card. Do you save the data to your PC? Would it hurt you to lose all the data on the card since the last time you downloaded and saved the data. Your PRS1 machine is also a lot less likely to get snotty and reject the card because the PC put a file on it.

BTW, curse you, ResMed for making the machines so fragile in terms of data on the card. This is probably going to make it impossible to use one of these WiFi cards even if they get it to work on PRS1 machines.

When he proves that it can be done easily some of us will chose to do it so we don't forget to return our cards to our machine like I did last night. The first time my LCD showed ZERO AHI and the card was not in it.

You have a Respironics machine...the LCD display doesn't depend on the SD card being in the machine to update itself.
It does depend on GMT time though. Your probably checked it prior to GMT time (remember the machine is set to GMT time) .

The SD card presence or absence has nothing at all to do with what the LCD screen shows.

Got curious and bought one the Toshiba cards, set it up on my computer, and copied my PRS1 data from the regular SD card to the Flashair card. Put the Flashair card into my PRS1 and it recognized it.

Using my computer, I connected to the Flashair with no problem and could browse the card in IE. If you right click on the files themself, choose the option to "save target as", you can save them to an SD card. I used the regular card I took out of my PRS1 and saved the files to the appropriate directory. If done on a daily basis, this is a "reasonable" solution as one would not have to transfer more than a few files. I just leave the SD card in my computer. This also gives me a backup copy!

To save the files from the Flashair as data, you must right click on the text only.

Tom, Well that may have been my problem, I was using chrome and could only get the "save as webpage" not "save target as" hmmm That may be easier than trying to rewrite the webpage on the flashair card..

I hang out online with a pretty crunchy granola crowd (only they all follow a Paleo diet, so no grain in the granola ), and some of them think that wifi interferes with your brain waves and sleep patterns. Some people turn off their wifi antennas at night and don't allow their cell phones to be in the same room where they sleep.

I have no clue if there's something to this or not. I persist in listening to my pillow speaker connected to my iphone which provides the white noise to help me sleep with CPAP, despite the YouTube videos showing how to pop popcorn with the microwaves from your cell phone (google it!).

Anyway, thought I'd put this out there--something to consider if you are thinking about putting a wifi card in your CPAP and it's tethered to within 6 feet of you all night. I don't know if there's any science behind the fears or not. I'm sure there are believers and non-believers.

Just something ELSE to keep me awake at night pondering.

They're nutjobs. There are plenty of things we don't understand. The effect of WiFi on the human body is NOT one of these.

There's plenty of things that have real effects on your health. Worrying about nonsense like this takes the emphasis off of the real problems.

Jay, Thanks, I was wondering if someone had worked on something like this... Hmmm, "crazzy minds think the same when tired"

Its something to work on, and now I know about the S9 machines.. maybe they were on to something about the SMB share.... It seems I ran into the same problem, not as easy as one would think to get by this... I have very basic skills with Linux (Google is my friend)
