Need help!

Post by Krazyglue » Wed Jun 25, 2014 6:24 pm

I have a respironics system one with a heated humidifier.

i just bought the heated tube but the connection is completely different at the base of the humidifier, i can try to add pics to explain but basically its that the one on my humidifier atm is just a regular connection that you slide the tube onto. The one on the heated tube is a "click" connection. I have no idea why or how to use this tube with my machine. My provider is useless, they know nothing, might as well call them Jon Snow.

Can anyone help?

If you could post pictures via photobucket that would help us help you. We can help you best if you will also post your equipment in your profile (User Control Panel at top left of page under the "search" option, so we know exactly which PR S1 machine, and which humidifier, etc. Pleae select "text" instead of "picture" option as the pictures make it hard for us to identify the model being used.

I think I 'get' it...you have the basic humidifier setup, not the one for the heated hose. But you bought a heated hose, now have nowhere to plug the heating element in on the humidifier, as the little plug in tube on the humidifier is only for basic plain jane hoses.

I'm just a newbie that had to be told that I probably had a 60 series unit, as it's new...I only know as much as I do because I was considering a heated hose as well, but I don't have one because nowhere to plug it in, and prob won't "need" one til winter.
If the system is new to you, you can probably talk to your DME that set you up and ask to swap out for the other unit. I believe, though, that you would also need an 80W power cord instead of the 60W supplied with the non-heated hose humidifier. (that's a mouthful.) Otherwise, I'm sure a pro on here will be able to tell you if there's a "kit" to swap to the other setup.

Thanks for the help though that you could give, i would really like to know if i can change the set up like you said.

my supplier is filled with idiots.

I mean seriously, they sent 3 different packages of the wrong equipment to me before i finally got the right one. First it was the wrong size nasal pillows then the wrong filter and then a normal tube...they just don't understand i think. or at least the people i've talked to werent very helpful

First of all let's make sure exactly which model machine you have.
Look on the bottom of the blower unit for a 3 digit number that may have DS or REF in front or behind it.
Your profile choice is for the PR System One Auto CPAP model 550....hopefully you have the 560 model as it is the only model that works with the heated hose you bought.
If you do have the model 560 then all you need to upgrade the 560 so you can use the heated hose is this upgrade kit.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-hea ... e-kit.html

If you have the model 560 then the correct choice in the equipment profile for machine is this
PR System One 60 Series Auto CPAPxxxx
and the humidifier choice would be
PR System One 60 Series Heated Tube humidifier with heated tube

If you have the model 550 that's a 50 series machine and there is no way to make it work with the System One heated hose.

You can of course still use a "normal" regular hose with the 560 model until you get the upgrade kit.
DME should have it available but sounds like they are clueless idiots.

Did you mean 550...that's the one that the heated hose won't work with at all?

If you have a 560 all you need is a different lid and power supply (assuming yours is now a 60 watt and you need 80 watt and it's marked on the power brick).

The 560 model replaced the 550 model about 2 years ago last March.

I have the upgrade kit on mine but am just using a standard hose for now. The heated hose fixes a rainout issue during cold winter nights.

You need three things:
1) the heated humidifier unit instead of a non-heated unit
2) the power supply for the heated humidifier unit
3) the connection for heated hose, which doesn't come on all heated humidifiers.

The heated humidifier has a round metal plate in the bottom - should be obvious. If your DME gave you this, they probably gave you the right power supply as well.

The heated humidifier on the 560 - without the heated hose kit - uses the 60W power supply. When you buy the converting kit for the heated hose, it comes with the 80W power brick.
