I sure appreciate my Auto. Most nights I need a moderate pressure but then there are nights when I need a high pressure. Same in any given night - moderate pressure works most of the time but there are intervals when I need a high pressure.

I would not want to run at a high pressure all night. I am guessing a sleep lab prescribing a fixed machine will prescribe the highest pressure needed. It seems to me that sleep is more restful at a lower pressure. That is probably why the APAP was developed. Advanced members comment?

Stevoreno_55 has been sleeping with straight CPAP at 18cm for several years. And he says he's been comfortable doing it.

The titration study (which was done because his old machine broke) resulted in a prescription of IPAP = 22, EPAP = 18. An AutoSet can't deliver that much pressure.

What we don't know is: What is Stevoreno's AHI on the (loaner) S9 Elite?

we probably never will, since he's so far refused to read the 'how to get your data' thread pugsy wrote.

I am curious about his claim that it always shows 0 hours on the usage screen, my only thought is the clock is off enough that it's doing the 'roll over to a new day' thing that usually happens at noon between the time he wakes up and when he checks the machine.

The machine showed 4.5 hours of usage when I got up this morning and I have been reading some of Pugsy's post. What does "AHI" mean Palerider? If I need the software to detect it I probably don't have it. Finally how do others get their sleep data from their machine's card onto their computers to post the information here? Robysue have you been taking notes because you seem to have all of my details down right?

I was not recommending an AutoSet. I was staying on topic which is fixed BiPAP vs. Auto BiPAP.

I have a strong preference and a justification for the Auto. My sleep doctor would write a prescription if I asked.

RobySue:

What do you mean when you say "AHI"? Couldn't an autoset be set to a pressure range for IPAP of 18 to 22 and EPAP of 14 to 18? Would that work? If it didn't work the RT could come back out to the house after she had new orders from the doctor to come back out and change my pressures and reset the machine to that "fixed" pressure of IPAP 22cm H2O and EPAP 18cm H2O which you have so strongly recommended. My pressure might change down the road you know RobySue.

RobySue:

What's the difference between a BIPAP/Bi-Level machine "with" a back-up rate(?) and one "without" ? Will I need a machine "with" or "without"? Enlighten me.

I'm onto your trolling ways, I've been reading some of your posts from your previous id, "stevoreno" you've got a history of this pretending to be a brick wall, asking the same questions over and over and never learning, or thinking for yourself. I encourage people to go read your post histories before wasting time on you.

But I would still stay with an unmoderated forum. The advantages outweigh a few trolls.

To all of you naysayers who are headed back out to the woodshed to get the tar buckets and feathers again; when I rejoined this site earlier this year this site would not let me use my old email address or my old username; I had to use a different account and also had to create a new username. For those of you who have the time to dig up my old posts and attempt to smear my name on this board you have more time on your hands than you know what to do with. Go back to your "click" corner and attack someone else.
