My 79 year old moms firsth CPAP-night!

Post by Lazer1234 » Sat Jun 21, 2014 3:02 pm

Hi all cpap friends!
I have learned a lot from all of you here, and now is the time to use my knowledge to get my 79 year old mother to use cpap. She has always snored and after she could borrow my pulse oximeter cms-50f one night so it is clear that the oxygenation drops down to 71%.
I have previously purchased a philips APAP of STLmark here on the forum, so now my mother could borrow my S9 autoset to see if it helps. She refuses to go to the doctor and do a sleep test, but is willing to test my machine. Hopefully, she wants to go to the doctor later.
I have set the S9 autoset with min 7 and maximum 10 cm h2o, no ramp, EPR 2
Tomorrow we will see how it has worked. Exciting!

Hope you have patience with that, sometimes it can get a little crazy.

At her age, and with the O2 drop like that, whether or not she has a sleep test is not the point, she should at least be seen for any possible cardiac issues (unless she has recently).

She goes under treatment for many years, had a heart attack 30 years ago. So it does not feel good for her to have these big oxygen saturation decreases at night now.
Will go and get the SD card now to see how it went tonight.
