Beg to differ a BG of 179 2 hours after eating a cupcake probably spells diabetes. At least get your
DR. to run a A1c and find out. I have had type 2 diabetes for 12 years and eating fat and protein
have little effect on my BG .

Thanks Woody, I greatly appreciate you responding. I will definitely have the doctor run an A1C.

Yes get a A1C test. Now to complicate maters if you are on a low carb diet and all of a sudden cheat your BG
can spike a lot higher than it was before going on the diet. Because of this if your DR. should perscribe a glucose
tollerence test you must give up the low carb diet for 3 days before the test or the results are totaly garbage.

Thanks. Actually, yesterday was the first time I went through the day sticking to protein, fats, and vegetables.

Previously, I had been eating a low to moderate carbohydrate diet with occasional cheating as I did with the cupcake and oatmeal. So I think the readings are valid.

Regarding giving up the low carb diet for 3 days, if I get a glucose tolerance test, thanks for the warning.
