Very articulate post, jnk, and obviously well thought out and structured.

Of course I disagree with most of what you said, but rather get into a point-by-point rebuttal let me just say this: rape is a very serious charge that carries equally serious implications for the accused. At this point names have not been named but the clinic in question has been outed, so it's not a stretch to say that parties involved would be easy to identify. Given that, coupled with the manner of the OP's post and questionable circumstances as related (strapped down?) I personally think it would be indecent not to question the facts. Many here have expressed the same opinion.

You are of course welcome to maintain your own opinion, but I see nothing about questioning the facts to be in any sense prejudicial or indecent in any way. As far as sending a message to a lurker about how people here treat those making incoherent or disjointed claims, I think the message could easily be that this is a good place to find gullible people for said lurker to exercise their craft if they are so inclined. It has always shocked me at the number of trolling and baiting posts that seem to find their way onto this board. It would concern me more that a lurker might potentially mistake some of these posts for some of the incredibly knowledgeable and helpful posts that form the backbone of this fine board.

And I think you'll find that people posting about masks, pressures and the like are typically not delving into controversial enough issues to generate satisfying results to your average troll.

Again, these are just my opinions and I'm in no way offended if you disagree.

I thank you for your respectful, candid reply, old dude, sir. I learned from your restrained tone. Much better than mine. I was a little, uh, intense, when I wrote my earlier post. Sorry about that.

Well, thank you as well but no need to apologize.

Civil people disagree respectfully, and in so doing help keep the world an interesting place!

My intent was simply to warn people of the possibility, nothing more. If my post is believed or not is up to each of you. I just wonder why anyone would lie about such a horrible thing. And old dude, when I can, and when charged with this crime, you will be the first to know. Just be aware of the possibilty that's all.

Well, 2000-7000 people per year do just that.

I'd say the reason is usually hate of some sort:
-- Eighty years -- that's about how long it took the state of Alabama to posthumously pardon the last three of nine men who were falsely accused and wrongly convicted of raping two white women on a train. They infamously were called the Scottsboro Boys, because the nine black men were just 12- to 19-years-old when they were arrested in 1931.

It turned out that the women, Ruby Bates and Victoria Price, had lied to police about the rapes. At one of the trials, Bates recanted her testimony, saying she had made it all up. Still, the all-white jury convicted the boys, one after another.

Forty-three years later, a similar story: This time it was Delbert Tibbs, who died recently of cancer. Tibbs spent nearly three years in prison in Florida after he was convicted in 1974 of a rape and murder that he had nothing to do with, according to the Florida Supreme Court.
Or trying to run a cover up:
They discussed her getting the morning-after pill and two days later, the woman messaged Seabrooks telling him she had obtained the pill.

But when her mother discovered the bounced check, the woman "concocted a story of sexual assault," the suit said.

Or maybe just a nut case:

Crazy excuse?
A law graduate faces jail after being found guilty of falsely accusing her former boyfriend of a series of rapes and assaults as an excuse for doing poorly in her barrister training.

Now that's a hard-looking woman:
