ResMed S9 Epr settings

Post by dkhinz » Sun Jun 01, 2014 3:54 pm

I recently found out from the tech at my doctors office that the epr setting would help me. I was leaking very badly and setting epr to 3 really helped. I noticed though that there are settings 1, 2, 3, and Patient. What does "Patient" mean? Is this some automatic setting that tunes the relief pressure according to what my machine detects my needs might be? Should I try it out?

It just means that the patient is allowed access to setting the EPR settings as they see fit.
EPR is exhale relief. Settings 1, 2 or 3 are just the settings for the amount of reduction during exhale.
1 cm reduction per setting.

Example...if pressure is set to 9 and EPR is set to 2 then during exhale phase the machine will drop the pressure by 2 cm to 7. Upon inhale it goes back up to 9.
It can't ever drop below 4 cm though...so if a person's pressure is set to 5...it can't ever go below 4 even if the EPR is set to 2 or 3.

If you haven't tried it....try it. You might like it. If you don't like it you don't have to use it.
Setting to "patient" just leaves it up to you to make the choice.
