ASV died! Looking to replace PR S1 Bipap AutoSV Advanced

Post by sleepinglass » Sun Jun 01, 2014 11:29 am

As I plugged my PR System One BiPAP autoSV Advanced in the other night, into a brand new plug board, bought from the internet, which in hind sight I should possibly have tested out on something inexpensive like a lamp stand, on plugging it in, there was a BIG flash now data is now totally weird.

I had finally made peace with my machine, thanks to all the kind forum members who patiently helped me to fine tune it! Thank you all again!

I was thinking of looking to buy a spare machine at some point but now that my main machine has died, I am in a big pickle, so that is now not going to happen for a very long time, unfortunately!

So if anybody decides to sell theirs or know of somebody who is thinking of selling their PR S1 BiPAP autoSV Adv, please let me know.

I am willing to consider the ResMed equivalent, even though, I have grown to love my PR as it has made such a big difference to my sleep/life!

It gently works away in the background and I am not even aware of being on Xpap any more!

Surely ResMed will not be THAT different??
I have never used the ResMed equivalent so it is a bit of a risk, but better than nothing, I suppose.
I am just wondering if it is as subtle as the PR S1 BiPAP autoSV Adv?

My pressures hit 23-25 CM H2O and I remain totally oblivious and continue happily in the land of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Perhaps someone who has used both asv type machines would kindly share their experience and let me know if ResMed is as wonderful a machine as the PR S1 BiPAP autoSV Adv is, assuming one even exists

Thanks

Send it to Acc Bio and have them fix it.
Surely that will cost less than replacing it.

+1 How old is the machine The manufacture date is on the back of the blower on the main sticker.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

If the 2009 date is correct, then the machine is likely a model 950.
The current 960 has some better features so that might be a better choice if you can get one.
Unfortunately, the 950 humidifier is not compatible with the 960 machine

What features does 960 have over 950 exactly? Seems hard to find a concise list anywhere. One I know of from RS' guide is the IPAP relies on PS differently when starting pressure.

Please confirm the 8 digit code on the sticker on the bottom of the blower unit.
The model 950 wasn't released until way past 2009 (at least in normal circles).

Hi Pugsy

Way after 2009 That is weird!
It must be 2012 then first 4 digits not the last two as I was reading.
Number is: 20120109.

Looks like it might be Jan. 9, 2012, I'd send it to AcBio for repair, give them a call and see how long it would take. http://www.acbio.com/cpaprepair.htm

Yep, 2012
The number code for manufacture date is year/month/day format.
First 4 numbers are the year.
I thought 2009 was way off because the very first 50 series machine didn't show up until late fall early winter 2009/2010 because I remember it showed up about 6 months after I started therapy and the first model was the 550.
The ASV models didn't make the change over for a couple of years..then they were the 950...and later last year the 960. It took a couple of years to change over all the models to the 50 series with the ASV being the last one to make the change.

Where are you located? For some reason I am thinking not in the US??? Like the UK....Or am I thinking of someone else?

PR has a rock-solid two year warranty. Sadly, you can do the math on your machine. My advice is to send it in for repair. A blown power transistor or two is easy to fix.
