General Apnea questions (BiPAP Pro 2 with Bi-flex)

Post by loopdemack » Mon May 26, 2014 11:35 pm

to anyone with BiPAP Pro 2 with Bi-Flex.
My mother had brain stroke because of the apnea, in fact her oxygen level was too low, and she had too much heart stops which made too much atrial fibrillation, and thrombus were made into her heart which were ejected into the carotides and inside her brain, into the left side side of the brain into the Wernicke's area.

Now I'm looking for a better device .
We had shhittty Respironics older type cpap 7400 - 04.

I found some used Philips Respironics BiPAP Pro 2 with Bi-Flex.

I don't know will it be enough, because by the data my mother should use oxygen device, but advice from the doctor is to try with autocpap or bilevel.
I will type the received data from the doctor:
--------------------------------
Epfort zbor=14
DF: 115% 104% 74,75
BMI=42,46

In the data measurements there was high number of thorax and abdomen movements detection stoppage!
estimated AHI=17,9 RERA=5.4 RDI=23.3
min Sato2=79% OD=20.1
estimated p=13 on the CPAP (IPAP=16 EPAP=10)
USE FULL FACE MASK!!!

TEST OXygen level monitoring with Pulse Oximeter OLED USB memory CMS50D with 24h monitoring function, if Sato2 is under 93% with Bilevel after 15 days promptly buy pure oxygen equipment.
---------------------------------------------

This is the rough translation from my native language.

My questions would be:

Is this older type of Philips Respironics BiPAP Pro 2 with Bi-Flex, good enough for my mother apnea data?
Could I sterilize this device with easy using Didecyldimethylammonium chloride solution after using a lot of water to remove Didecyldimethylammonium chloride after disinfection.

I mean to disinfect inside of the device inner rubber hose and especially air turbine (I attached the air turbine picture).

How can I test this device, how can I be sure its 100% working.
I tested it in a few minute at sellers place, and it seems that this device only pumped air I didn't saw that its sucked and pumped the air.
Maybe it was not set properly?
Maybe the smaller rubber tube was not connected properly (the cO2 tube)

Thank you.

These are the links of the actual device that I think to by, and the picture of the air turbine.

Various manuals available. Some by direct download and some you have to request
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

The BiPap machine also has cpap mode available and when you tested it at the sellers house maybe it was set in the cpap fixed pressure mode. You also have to be attached to the machine and breathing in and out to experience bilevel pressures fully because your own breathing helps trigger the changes in pressure between EPAP and IPAP.

I would suggest that you get the provider/clinical manual so you can figure out exactly how to get to the settings.

Now I found out by the seller that the device have some faults.

I talked to the seller and it seems the pressure is too high.
Maybe he don't know to setup mask and the pressure tubing because after he powers up the device he get on the screen
0005 after that 0297 and after it start to blow, he get E-27 error which seems to be
E-27 ERR_DRIFT_PRESSURE_TOO_HIGH Occluded or restricted pressure tube
Defective pressure sensors - Replace pressure tubing - Replace Main PCA

Now if its PCA board it's catastrophe, if its just the pressure tubing maybe the tubing is congested with something or something entered the pressure valves.
I don't know how pressure valves react to contact sprays.

What could it be?

It could be any number of things.
It would stop me from purchasing the machine though. If the machine was being given to you then it might be worth investing some time in. No way would I invest any money in it.

I will look around to see if I can find the disc that might have that service manual included. I don't remember which of those old machines I had the manuals to. That would be the old "Legacy" series machine.
