Greetings everyone!
I know there are several discussions about travel size CPAPs but wanted to get an updated recommendation on what people are using today?
I've been lugging around my CPAP which is mid size for quite some time and would like to purchase one specially for traveling.
Was looking at getting the: Transcend EZEX Travel CPAP Machine for 499.00 +15% off on cpap.com.
Any thoughts? I would prefer to have the automatic adjusting, also if there are any other features that I am not aware of?
I don't typically use the humidifier so that is not a big deal to me.
2014 Travel size CPAP recommendations
Re: 2014 Travel size CPAP recommendations
I just did a lot of research on both these machines, as well as the Intellipap machines.
My conclusion was that the two true travel machines you reference were both sub-optimal for many reasons, which you will read about as you do your due diligence. The Intellipap turned out to have a few limitations too, not the least of which is that it isn't any smaller that my PRS1 machine but rather just arranged vertically rather than horizontally.
I'm afraid that you may find that the current state of so-called "travel" machines is such that they aren't a good option for most people unless you're willing to live with some significant compromises. My decision was to just get another PRS1 machine and suck up the size as a trade off for the efficacy of the machine.

Re: 2014 Travel size CPAP recommendations
I have looked into this too. The only CPAP that seems to be a fit is the Z1. However you still need to pack your hose, mask, cords for re-charging, a few filters, and the battery (battery is integrated). When compared to packing a PR system one, without the humidifier, one has to ask is what you’re giving up worth saving space. It seems to me that if you buy good packaging you can package a small battery, cords and PR1 (without the humidifier). Many people complain that the Z1 is noisy. Maybe one can muffle the sound using the bacteria gizmo and getting a long hose (maybe hide the Z1 between a tree or under the bed). I want to buy a Z1, but I don’t like the reviews on this forum concerning it>
Re: 2014 Travel size CPAP recommendations
Thank you both for the replies. I agree, I don't really want to dish out 500 bucks. One of my biggest reasons for wanting one is when traveling by train for weeks at a time and real estate in your luggage is limited.
I love that the Z1 has most of the features I would look for in using one at home full time as well. I'll just have to get online and watch some youtube videos.
Thanks again!
