Got my results from the sleep clinic after using it for a week - all going well. Lots of "flow limitations" - which I don't really understand, but the sleep tech wasn't concerned about them. They're not recorded on Rescan so I'm not familiar with them. I'm a slow shallow breather once I'm relaxed, and also have a cough atm, so those things might contribute to the flow limitations.
Apart from the comfort of the Sensawake and the increase in sleep time I get as a result, and the pleasant awakenings too, I have another thing I love about it. I have not had any aerophagia since using the Icon. I hadn't even realised that till checking the new posts and there is one about aerophagia. So whoopee.

Re: Icon Premo
Flow limitations are minor reductions in the air flow that don't meet criteria for one of the full grown apnea flags or hyponea flags. Might be from the reduction not being enough of a % of reduction or might be the reduction at the % didn't last long enough to earn an event flag.
If you are sleeping well and feeling decent then I wouldn't worry about them either.
Also I don't know what you classify as "lots" Some people think that 1 per hour average of anything is a "lot". It isn't.
Also important is maybe the per hour average is low but there's some clustering of whatever which might be important.
Just depends on how many in the cluster and how often the cluster happens.
Finally we have to take into account the criteria for the F & P event flags. I don't remember the exact % of reduction to qualify for OA or hyponea but they all have to last at least 10 seconds to earn the flag.
Hyponea being the one that might have a lower % of reduction....like 50%. I will use that as an example but don't hold me to it as being the gospel. Different brands have different criteria (small differences but still different) and I can't remember all of them. But say the reduction in air flow in your situation was only 40%...so less than 50% (assuming that is the criteria) but lasting 10 or more seconds. It gets a FL notation but doesn't earn a hyponea notation because it is less than 50% reduction.
Or maybe it was 50% reduction but only lasted 8 seconds.
I call FLs...hyponea wannabes. Not normally a problem unless present in huge numbers or sleep quality suffers.

Re: Icon Premo
Thanks so much Pugsy. That makes sense and is reassuring. I really appreciate you taking so much time to help me and others on the forum.
The flow limitations vary from 1 per hour to 15 per hour. The nights with higher averages show clusters of flow limitations.
The Icon+ SleepyHead program should be available this weekend, if all goes to plan with JediMark, so I shall soon be able to monitor my sleep better day to day. Considering that I'm still getting used to the new machine and recovering from a respiratory virus, I'll wait a couple of weeks before posting my data - if the clusters are still there. I am feeling so good today, I have been to the gym and am still jumping out of my skin with energy, so I think it's all OK!
Thanks again Pugsy!
