I really appreciate all the help I received on this original post and wanted to give an update with some good news. The hard part in treating my husband is that there are to issues which need to be handled by two different physicians:
REM Behavior Disorder- secondary to traumatic closed head injury. We went to his physiatrist armed with reams if info. The doc immediately agreed that was going on but because of TBI cannot use drug of choice (clonazepam) so trying Trileptal instead. This has to go through Workers Comp. This MD ordered the sleep study which we never saw. I asked for a copy and saw Bob DOES have mild sleep spine and recommended CPAP if clinically indicated. What? Only talking about his sleep issues for over a year
Snoring: His snoring is so bad it's played havoc with my sleep. I happened to be at my sleep doc for a followup and asked about referrals from my family doctor. The tech told me they get referrals from him all the time so could just schedule and miracle of miracles, his study is in their system since a copy was sent to our GP (same huge medical group). So...he sees the specialist on the 28th.
This group has been a Godsend. When I told the tech how much I found out here she was thrilled because it helped me obtain 100% compliance within my first month, no large leaks and down to AHI of 1.1. With hubby now being finally cared for, we should both be Sleepong Beauties fairly soon!
