subcutaneous emphysema/nasal cpap

Post by Tresalee » Tue Apr 29, 2014 8:51 pm

Well, it's been a very long time since I came to this site, but still on cpap, still loving my sleep! I wanted to check with you all to see if anyone has ever experienced subcutaneous emphysema and where it was located. I noticed a few
people posted about it. Just in the last month or so I noticed that my left ear was tender and when I touched the side of my face in front of my ear I noticed a crackly sensation. It was something I could sort of 'hear' inside my ear. I am a nurse, so I am embarrassed to say, that I didn't really figure it out until a few days ago. The air actually is noticeable all the way up to the side of my left eye, and under my chin on the left side of my face. Weird, huh? Anyone ever have this happen? I think I must have a punctured ear drum or something, for this to have happened. I don't remember any other injury or reason. It is only slightly painful, and I will see a otolaryngologist on Friday, so I just want to know, anyone every have this? I am going to use my cpap till I see the doc, and I hope he doesn't say I can't. How will I sleep? What will I do? Sad, and scared. I can not see myself ever getting a good nights sleep again without my cpap!

ok, so I went to see the doc today. I have a CT scan to do probably on Tuesday. Just to see if it really is subcut. air. He couldn't really feel it, but it was later in the day, and if it is there, and caused by the cpap, it would probably decrease throughout the day. So I have to do the scan early in the day. I don't have to stop the cpap, and he doesn't think it is a real problem, so maybe I won't even bother...
