They did away with the enzymes and so I stop using Biotene and use Walgreen's house rinse for dry mouth and it has the enzymes in it.

Same with Rite-Aid house brand rinse, still has enzymes.

It works all night for me, I can't say for anyone else if it would.

No worries Jeannh. They must of had the new ingredients in them before I started using the gel, I haven't noticed any change in taste.

Actually, I have NO need for Biotene. In my case my mouth dryness comes from MEDICATIONS. I usually resolve it by rinsing my mouth with faucet water when I go to the BR. At the same time I also rub my (closed) eyes with the faucet water to take away the "sandy" feeling. If I had any doubts about the faucet water cleanliness I would then use the distilled water which I also use in my CPAP humidifier.

I am looking for a Doc who would be knowledgeable enough about medications which don't cause dry mouth and who could tell me how to replace those that I am now taking. It's mostly the psychotic ones like Xanax, Gabapentin, Zolpidem, etc., which I take.

i think most dry mouth comes from meds. The problem is, almost any medication can cause dryness. It's different for everyone. Sometimes it's easier to treat the dry mouth than to switch medications. Maybe worth considering.
