Resmed FX Nano for her

Post by Pillowtoss » Mon Apr 21, 2014 4:20 pm

I've been using the Resmed Swift Fx her for a while and I love it. I'm really thinking about trying the Resmed Fx Nano but a bit nervous because we know how tricky a great mask can be hard to find. Give me your thoughts please what you think about the Nano mask... the good the bad and the sleeplessness of it.. Thank you all.

I actually liked the Nano. It's the only over the nose mask that I own. All the others are nasal pillow masks.
It won't replace my nasal pillow masks in number one spot but if for some reason my nostrils got in some shape where they wouldn't tolerate the nasal pillows I would use the Nano in a heartbeat. I used it for a week when I was trialing it. I even hooked it up to the Bella Loops and had great success with it.

Final thoughts have to be yours though. Just because I might love a mask or even hate it doesn't mean that someone else won't hate the one I love and love the one I hate.

I think we have a Nano review thread back from when it was newly released. I don't have that thread handy right now.

I try a new mask if it interests me. Sometimes it's good experiment and sometimes the only thing I learn is how much I hate the mask...but I always learn something.
I had my doubts initially about the Nano because I wasn't able to have success with the Wisp which is similar but I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I actually liked the Nano. I lot more than I ever thought I would.

Hi Pugsy, I remember you from back when I first came to the boards , I had asked about the Swift Fx her mask by Resmed I tried it and love it so much I still continue to use that style mask. I know in the end I am the one who has to sleep with the mask on my face so I will either love the mask or hate it I'm usually late to see new masks that come out , it could be because I love the one I currently use so much because I don't have sore spots or brushing like I had with my first mask so I haven't looked at anything else

You know if you like the Swift FX nasal pillows...you might look at ResMed's AirFit P10 nasal pillow mask. It was released in Jan and I tried it and I love it. It moved the Swift FX nasal pillows down to number 3 in my preference list.
The Tap Pap is still probably number one just because of no headgear at all but the AirFit P10 is giving it a run for its money.
I have been using the P10 since Jan when it was released because of a bad tooth on the lower teeth..old crown that is leaking and needs to be redone and I keep putting it off.

I'm in the same boat and don't want to commit to a mask until I'm sure it's what I want. I bought a Nano cushion over the internet and I'm using it with my old FX headgear. I've only used it for two nights, but so far I'm impressed. It feels "different" when you're used to nasal pillows and I was certain it was leaking, but it wasn't. I can change position, go from back to side sleeping, and it stays put.

....you can hook up the FX nano to the bella loops from the Swift FX?

This might be the answer to my problem of acne right at the tips of my nose where the pillow meets and being pretty uncomfortable while it heals. Gonna have to scrape together some money to try that out. (I blew through my entire deductible on a high deductible plan in a month. It might have to wait a little while...)

Yep, I did it and it worked great. I slept 2 nights with the Nano and the Bella Loops. I was surprised. I thought the Nano cushion might "weigh" on the Loops but it really didn't do that at all. I did 2 nights because the first night I didn't have the tension just quite right and it was a bit leaky. Anyone who has used the Loops know that sometimes just the tiniest of adjustment makes a big difference. So the second night I tightened one notch on either side (top I think) and it worked perfectly. Slept quite well with it and no wake ups from leaks and according to the reports...only saw a couple of little mouth leaks or what looked like typical mouth leaks with my nasal pillows...small and didn't even reach large leak territory and I slept solidly right through them.
I also did it with both the Nano short hose and the Swift FX short hose...to be honest I couldn't tell any difference with either. Both worked well.
The Nano cushion is so lightweight that there was zero adverse tugging on the Loops.

Ohhh man soon as I find a spare 50 bucks or when my insurance says I'm good to switch headgears I'll try that.

For now I'm just rotating often between the P10 and the Swift FX with the Bella Loops like....every 3rd night. AHI numbers are about the same (I've gotten several 0.0's in the last month!), but that way I can not tear up my hair so badly or give my ears a break.

I switch off between the Nano and Swift fx, and typically use the Bella Loops for both. If I am really congested, then the nano works better for me.

I thought the Swift Fx was a gift from heaven, but I love the lack of leaks with the Nano. I'm sleeping so much deeper and waking up less. I have found that the Nano is sensitive to creams I put on my skin at night and I'm wiping it down with Cpap wipes each morning.

For those wanting to experiment, there are auctions on Ebay for Nano cushions still in their original bag.
