How often to replace nasal pillow and air filter?

Post by joetro » Mon Apr 14, 2014 12:23 pm

How often should I be replacing the nasal pillows in my Air Fit? I've had it for a couple of months, haven't used it every night (ducks, I know). I think my insurer allows once per month, but I'm cleaning it out and I think it's in okay shape ...

Furthermore, how often to replace the removable air filters in Resmed S9 CPAP)?

Resmed says replace at 6 months...sooner if needed.

I replace my nasal pillows when they will no longer holds a seal. I've had this AirFit P10 for around 2-3 months & the pillow still seals great. My Swift LT, by contrast, needed pillow replaced about every 2-3 weeks. I think it depends on the mask & how you wear out pillows.

I don't boil, intended to try this but haven't had time yet, just have a bag of worn out LT pillows to boil...someday???

I also suspect the answer will be different from person to person, depending on many factors. One being are you compliant & how much of the time is spent in actual use.

I am 99.9% compliant with my therapy. The only time I sleep without my CPAP is in chairs at the rehab where my MIL is currently. Likewise in chairs at ER's & other places where I wind up exhausted. Used to be able to claim I was 100% compliant, but life happened.
