New pressures

Post by Sclark08 » Mon Apr 14, 2014 6:36 am

I found the clinician manual to reset pressures on my bipap machine. I readjusted and slept wonderful the last two nights. I told myDME about it and she was furious. It's my machine!
Can she get me in trouble with Medicare or do I have. Right to do that. I can never get them to come out and do it

As you said, it's your machine and you have every right to do what you want with it. DME's love to think they're gods and have power over you, but they're not and don't. Ridiculous. And I doubt very much if Medicare gives a damn anyhow, all they care about is compliance.

I thought about coming over and slap the cuffs on you, but you may take me serious.

You can do anything that you want. No one can "get you in trouble". The way to handle DME's is to educate yourself here, then when you have a logical conversation with the DME... throw in some cpap lango' and blow the lady right outta' the water!! That'll shut her up.

What did you go from to and why?

The DME should be concerned about the machine working for you. I am amazed at how they seem to work against thier own business interests so often. It was a questionable fit. I hope we find a better way.

this was what my DME said to me when I asked about analysing treatment data etc "you are not a professional, what matter is whether you feel better or not!"

Me: feeling better is a perception and more subjective. Patient need to know their sleep data and analyse the trend and events of treatment.

Never return to the DME after that
