For everyone who has experience with BiPAP, what brand and model machine is recommended? I'm anticipating my mom will be switched from APAP to BiPAP because after close to a year of faithfully using her Resmed s9 autoset, her AHI ranges from 12- over 20 every night, with snoring still present. With the very good advice from the experienced folks on this forum, we have increased her pressure min and narrowed the pressure range over the past two weeks, but while it did give some improvement, her pressure still is at the max of 20 for most of the night.
From now on, I will be going with her to her sleep appointments. I am trying to educate myself on all the ins and outs of BIPAP before mom's next visit on Tuesday 4/15. I would like to be able to ask for a prescription for a specific machine to be sure mom gets something that I can track data and, with the help of the forum, change settings if necessary.
I've started sorting through any posts I can find about BIPAP to be sure I understand the terminology, but I don't have a lot of time to research machines before this next appointment. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Back in January when someone else posed this question I wrote the fairly detailed comparison of the Resmed S9 VPAP Auto and the PR System One Series 60 BiPAP Auto:College3girls wrote:For everyone who has experience with BiPAP, what brand and model machine is recommended?

Both the S9 VPAP Auto and the PR System One Series 60 BiPAP Auto record full efficacy data. Both are compatible with SleepyHead and the official software for both machines is readily available. From now on, I will be going with her to her sleep appointments. While I think the Respironics is a more comfortable choice, your mom has been using an S9 for a year.
That means she is happy with the way ResMed handles things and may or may not like switching to Respironics.
I don't recommend switching manufacturers unless there are specific issues that would be fixed by the change.

Re: Bipap machine advice please
Thank you for the info. I will probably stick with the Resmed, since that is also what I use. (Like mother, like daughter, except I don't need BIPAP.) As soon as we know what the set-up will be, I'll be getting mask liners for mom too. Her leaks wake her up. She fixes them and goes back to sleep, but she is waiting for the night she gets to sleep straight through without a leak problem. Amazingly enough to me, the pressure doesn't bother her, and neither does using a full face mask; in fact she says she feels like she would smother without the air. And this coming from a severe claustrophobic.
