The hovercraft analogy was the best I've seen. I put my mask on, let it warm up before I make any adjustments. Then with the Mirage I crank the knob
until the leak stops then back it out a click at a time until it comes back, then in a click at a time. I'd swear letting the mask warm up makes a big difference.
The straps I never adjust once I have them set. When I first set them up I loosened them then laying on my back with the "mask fit" going I slowly adjust
the straps until the leaks barely stop. Then I re-seat the mask and adjust until the leaks stop or are minimal. Having the straps too tight gives me a neck
ache even if they don't feel that tight, so I leave them to the looser side. So I put my mask on, turn the machine on wait 10 minutes until the mask warms up
mess with the knob and 9-10 nights are fine.

Yes! I shall work some more on mine tonight.

I have been using SleepWeaver for about 2 years and have all 3 models, Advanced, Élan, Anew. Since I got my New ASV machine the higher pressure causes leaks which lead to runaway pressure and more leaks. Using the Élan I developed a sore where the mask rubbed just below my nose. I switched to the Anew FFM which was slightly better on the nose but had big leak issues. I found that if I buried my face in the pillow that would cure the leaks on one side and I would hold the mask in place with my hand on the other side until I fell asleep.

My pressure is 16 and the floating fit resulted in leaks.

After i start the machine i lift the mask and let the seal inflate, but I have to have the straps snug.

You may have the wrong size mask, or like me you may be between sizes, or have a slightly different shaped face than the mask was designed for. Since these masks aren't "custom fit", those of us that are slightly off the normal curve do what we need to do to make things work *smile*.

The sleepweaver masks are tricky; they require more patience than hard masks--wearing one is something like dancing in your sleep.
I would have kept using my Elan if the mild leaks out the top hadn't been so drying to my eyes.
None of the many goggles/eye shields I've tried will work with the Elan. I miss it.

I too belong to the cinch it down club. I tried the loose as a goose but did not ever find a happy spot. If I hear/feel face farts or air blowing/leaking it bothers me both physically and mentally. I wake up completely and have to fall asleep again. Irritating to say the least.

I tighten my mask pretty tight. I do have a 'chubby' face and use dentures during the day. I use Strapguard strap pads (or Pad a Cheek) so I don't wake up with the red face marks. I averaged 0.05 or below on the average leaks in Sleepyhead for the past 30 days. I have unplugged and removed the cord from my S9 several times to ensure I'm not being bitten by the 0 leak bug reported elsewhere in the forum.

Like I said the main reason it because it irritates the holy H*** out of me when I feel/hear it leaking. Anger kicks in and sleep exits the area.

Last night I backed off the strap tightness on my Quattro FX about a quarter of an inch on each of the four straps (in response to some of the earlier testimonies regarding mask looseness) - I just tried to be mellow about the new feeling on my face and stay relaxed. Nothing bad happened like massive leaks or mask farts, therefore I'll wait another couple of nights and then loosen it some more. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
