Very true, and that was part of the reason I tried to make it clear that she really didn't need to chase lower numbers and there were other reasons she might not want to. However, this particular member was running 10 - 20 APAP previously and was happier with that setting, but she was recently scolded by her DME and had her pressure lowered by them to 9 - 12 citing her doctor's pressure recommendation as the reason. She has been sleeping at the new lower pressure for several nights but does not feel it is an improvement.robysue wrote:The name of the game is NOT to get the AHI as low as possible. But for many people, there's a lot more to optimizing this crazy therapy than merely chasing a 0.0 AHI. Comfort is an important issue: If you are not comfortable, it is difficult to get a good night's sleep.

In my opinion: 'Tis better to get some really high quality sleep with a slightly higher AHI than it is to sleep poorly with a perfect 0.0 AHI night after night
The real issue here isn't the 9-12 pressure vs the 10-13 pressure. She was happier at 10-20 but after getting scolded for it she is looking for support and validation that she wasn't wrong in doing what she did.
