I am a mouth breather...chosen full face mask and a hybrid. If I used nasal pillows, would it keep my nasal passages open where I could breathe through my nose (and keep my mouth closed with a chin strap)?
The Innomed/RespCare Hybrid I wear has pillows and covers my mouth. It comes with 3 sizes of pillows and oral cushion to make getting a good seal relatively easy. I found my best was small oral cushion and large pillows (fitting suggested medium, but I wanted more air flow), so ya gotta play around a bit with fitting. It comes with a CD showing how to select sizes. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/RespCa ... -Mask.html Image

...hybrid (I think one of the nasal pillows came out)...
Several of us who wear the Hybrid mask make a strap that goes across the pillows that help them stay in place. PM me or search for Hybrid tips here on the forum if you are interested.

...using Bentonite to keep my mouth moist so I would have less problem with cotton mouth. About 6 wks into using it I discovered that I was having bowel problems - allergy to sorbitol so I've been off that now for about 3 wks. That seems to be the only mouth moisturizer sold around here.

So, I'm in a quandry.

I paid out of pocket for the hybrid. My RT at the DME told me the quattro air was the best mask out there and even though I told him I hated it, and even though he could see my terrible ulcer on my nose, he said that I just needed to give it more time since "it was the best". I was leaving to go on vacation in 3 days so I just bought the hybrid online and paid for overnight shipping.

I dont mind buying another mask but this could get quite expensive if I have to try several before finding the one I like. I believe my insurance pays for one mask every 3 months.
Take a look at the DreamWear face mask. It works like a nasal pillow combined with a mouth cover. I don't know if it's an answer for you but after trying multiple masks the DreamWear Nasal PIllow is my choice.
