I have the Mirage liberty and it is working pretty good for me, except it hurts my nostrils. I have to cinch it pretty tight. Has anybody tried
the hydrid from innomed?

Re: Mirage Liberty vs Hybrid by inomed
I've tried both and still use the Hybrid. The deciding factor for me was the tendency of the Lib cushion to slip up over my lower lip. The Hybrid's chin cup prevents that, of course. I can even yawn and everything stays in place.
But the primary concern should be a correct fit to your face contour, of course.

Can anybody tell me how the pillows are compared to the Swift FX? The large size of the Swift FX just barely fits me, and would be better for me if they were not do round ...

Can't speak to Swift pillows, but if you can't get a good seal... Lansinoh can work wonders. Search the forum for "lansinoh".

I have met Shawn...his nostrils are super elongated (slotted) and rather large. The nasal pillows typically have more of a rounded opening and not slotted and due to size of nostril opening and the elongation of his nostrils Shawn has trouble covering the nostril opening with the inner cones of most of the nasal pillows...he simply needs a larger size than is available...or needs nasal pillows with more of an elongated opening instead of round to oval that is typically available.123.Shawn T.W. wrote:Can anybody tell me how the pillows are compared to the Swift FX? Lansinoh won't be enough to maintain the seal because it's mostly a nostril opening fit and size issue.
The only mask that I have seen in the nasal pillow line that offers a more slotted opening on the cones is the Pilairo and it's a one size fits only. Shawn tried it but didn't do well because of the one size fits only headgear and mouth opening tendency.
I wonder if the mouth opening was better controlled if maybe the new Pilairo Q with adjustable headgear would maybe work.
I don't think that the large nasal pillows in either the Liberty or the Innomed would do the trick in Shawn's situation.
Now if there was an extra large available...maybe but there isn't that choice in those masks that I am aware of.

Re: Mirage Liberty vs Hybrid by inomed
I use the hybrid innomed/respcare but I add an extra strap of lingerie elastic across the pillows. I have a tilted nose and long upper lip which means in order for them not to pop out when breathing I would need to cinch it too tight for comfort. Instead I use the strap across the pillows.
Here is a link to a page where people illustrate the various strapping possible. I use lingerie elastic, many people use spandex cut from women's tights, this makes for interesting social interactions as you explain you sleep with women's tights on your head.

Re: Mirage Liberty vs Hybrid by inomed
I can't give a really fair report, because I got a Liberty with a backup machine I bought. (used). I tried to make it work because I liked the concept. When I decided to put it away because it didn't work, I ordered the Hybrid. I thought there was a pretty good learning curve in getting it set up, but I liked it and used it for several months. It is especially good if a person is having problems with a sore, red nose from other ffm. I switch around on masks and now am using the Simplus. I like it -- not perfect, but pretty good.
Re: Mirage Liberty vs Hybrid by inomed
I've ordered the Innomed Hybrid. I have used the Mirage Liberty for a couple of years. It's been a pretty good mask comfort-wise, best I'd had so far (out of 4 styles I've tried over 7 years of therapy). But the ring clip on the elbow connector is the poorest design possible. I am very careful with it because it is so fragile, and yet I'm replacing it several times a year, buying multiples at a time. (I'm not the only one - similar stories are everywhere.) This last clip, only a month old, was broken when I woke up yesterday and I didn't have a spare. Last night was HORRIBLE - I taped the clip the best I could, but my hose still detached from my mask repeatedly the whole night. I didn't get nearly enough sleep because of the leaks, so I'm a little cranky and probably shouldn't be making mask decisions like this. But at $26 each, I've replaced them enough to buy a whole new mask. I'm done. It wasn't a total impulsive decision, I've been researching other masks, thinking about changing when I needed a new mask. The clip thing just moved my timetable up. The reviews here are what led me to choose the Innomed, so thanks for the good info!
