new datacard procedure

Post by ratfancy » Fri Mar 28, 2014 5:25 pm

Silly me, I mailed my M-series data card to my doctor and it was lost in the mail! I purchased a new one. How does the historical data in the machine get written to the new card?

If I recall the M-series has only compliance data - probably not a great loss.

I make a copy of the data from time to time and save it on my hard drive. Has saved me from trouble once in the past four years.

CPAP data cards are the ONLY thing I hear about getting "lost in the mail"?! What is up with that!!!

Perhaps they need to train thier technicians regarding static safety??

Perhaps they need to train thier technicians regarding proper card removal protocol??

Perhaps Windows 8.1 now writes to the cards as does a Mac and they do not write protect as they need to so the cards to not work when sent back??

Yes make/keep a backup and always ask for a printout of the data that you sent. Probably wise.
May any shills trolls sockpuppets or astroturfers at cpaptalk.com be like chaff before the wind!

The M-Series PRO does record efficacy data. (See https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... ations-tab for details).

It's true that the M-Series PRO doesn't record the wave flow itself, but it does record the events and the leak data. In Encore you get an events table so you can see when the apneas, hypopneas, and snoring occurred.

The M-Series apparently writes all the data directly to the data card, however. And so the data from nights where there is no data card in the machine is apparently lost forever.

What little data that is stored on the M series machine gets written to the new Smart card regarding any past usage data.
Summary usage and some basic AHI and leak averages.

For any detailed data the Smart Card must be in the machine all night and even then it only stores 7 nights worth.
So only 7 nights worth of detailed data was on the Smart card anyway.
