OT: Pneumonia Injection

Post by ems » Fri Mar 28, 2014 10:41 am

I'm wondering how many of you over 55 years of age got this shot. If you did, what made you decide to get it? If you didn't, what made you decide not to get it?

I would strongly recommend it. I got mine in 2011.......AFTER I spent five days in the hospital with pneumonia. Didn't want to go through that again. They're supposed to be good for five years.

I'm just getting ready to turn 52, but I got it. I had pneumonia in 2008 and luckily caught it early enough that I could be treated with medication at home. But I was one sick puppy and do NOT want to go through that again if I can avoid it.

I'm 29 and got it in October with my flu shot. With my genetic condition we're predisposed to severe lung and sinus infections. So the pneumonia shot is to protect me

I'm 62 and have had the pneumonia shot. In my mid fifties I was diagnosed with pneumonia. Upon further investigation after it didn't respond to 2 rounds of antibiotics, it was found to be Interstitial Lung Disease, and I was on steroids for several months. I really want to avoid pneumonia - my lungs are already in a precarious state. I'd rather take my chances with the shot than without.

After years of watching fellow workers get flu & pneumonia shots, at work to improve our work records, it became clear the ones that DIDN'T take the shot, took less sick time from work.

That and some of the ingredients in the shots, concern me, plus I have learned to NOT to trust our government, that has big bussiness ties in the indrusty, to have our well being at heart. I don't want to tie my health to eithers bottom line.

That being said: Since my By-Pass and getting over 65, my wife and I both got the shots three years ago.

The results: three weeks later she came down with pneumonia and the flu, it took 4 doctor visits in four weeks to recover, almost two months to fully recover. I was lucky I only suffered with the flu, for four days, in 8 days I was back go normal. The only winners were the drug companies, and the doctors.

Never again will I be a guinea pig, for the drug companys. I do believe in some shots polio, smallpox, measles, tetanus, and are up to date.

Governments of the world and the medical industry, storing live virus, and attempting to weaponize germs, provide a source of never ending problems for humanity, and a unending source of need for medicines and shots. Kind of like they are breeding Rats to become stronger in one wing of the building and designing Rat Traps in the wing. They turn the Rats loose, and sell the people Rat Traps. The problem the Rats are becoming smarter than the Trap builders. One day soon the Rats will win. Jim

This is why I was concerned with whether DorC & Mike took the shots this year. What we need is real data but we will never get it, the numbers are set by the people that gain from them. I also think a mass shot could be used for population control, thinning of the herd! Other methods, this can be accomplished, is spread in our air, and food supply. In animals, point of fact Lime Disease, spread by deer ticks infected with the disease and released into the environment by accident

I was a guinea pig--one of the first kids to get the Salk vaccine.
I've had all my shots--I'm just not ready to "croak" --in that way!

Did they ever come up with a injection to ward off warts? ♥ Jim
I'd take that.

Don't touch a wild frog unless you've had your shot--especially there.

For the record, I've never had a flu shot, either. And, I've known enough people who had it and then got the flu, too. However, I don't want to push my luck with pneumonia again. That's kind of a "different animal" in my opinion. Granted, either one can kill a person, but I know how sick I was with pneumonia and don't want to go through that again.

I got it because I am "high risk" because I work in a hospital.

I've got my shot every 5 years since I was in my 40's. I still get pneumonia, just not as severely.

I was born with a lung condition & frequently cough like someone who is coughing up a lung. CPAP definitely helps when I have pneumonia, I take a nebulizer treatment before bed, then follow with CPAP it helps keep the healing meds in my lungs.

For those of you who don't trust the government & vaccines, that's your choice & don't feel the need to apologize, that's why we have freedom of choice. Someone who has never had pneumonia probably won't feel the need to get the vaccine, whereas someone like me runs for the next shot exactly 5 yrs after my last one.

I was surprised that Sclark08 gets one every year, my Dr only lets me get one every 5 & he knows how bad my lungs are with my history. I guess different drs have different opinions too.
