ResMed S9 VPAP Auto--Ramp question
ResMed S9 VPAP Auto--Ramp question
I will be getting this machine. Have read as much as I can on it in order to prepare for its usage. But, I can find nowhere where it tells me how I may use the 'ramp' feature. Let me explain. On my old machine, the ramp feature is an optional choice I have AND when I lay down, I can turn it on or not. If I wake up later in the night and want to turn it back on, I can just by pressing a button. On this new machine I'm assuming that 'ramp' is automatic if turned on in the settings feature. But, can I activate it during waking if I want to and if so, how do I do it? Thanks!
Re: ResMed S9 VPAP Auto--Ramp question
On the S9 machines ramp is set within the clinical setup menu. There is no separate ramp button like there is on your old Respironics machine.
Using the S9..to turn ramp off there is either an on/off toggle or just a setting to reduce ramp time to 0 minutes and that makes it off. I forget if there is an on/off toggle with the VPAP Auto..but it's easy to see if it is there.
Once ramp is on (by the toggle or just setting the minutes you want ramp to run) ramp is controlled by the on/off button for the blower on the top of the machine. If you wake up and want ramp to be used again all you do is just punch the on/off button to turn off the machine and then back on because ramp is tied to the on function.
It's going to go into ramp every time the machine is turned on and it goes through the same time frame for ramp duration each and every time the machine is turned on.
You may find that ramp isn't that big of an issue with the bilevel machine. With the way the pressure is delivered you may not even need it or need it a much shorter period of time.
But if you do..it's there with just a brief click on the on/off button on the top of the machine.

Thanks! That covers it then. Glad there is someone around who knows these things.

The ramp selection is in the home menu of the user screen. It's adjustable in 5 minute increments from 0 to the maximum time allowed. The maximum ramp time allowed is set in the clinical menu. The default is 45 minutes. The range is 0-45 minutes.
