I am 35 and got diagnosed about 6 months ago. I know I have been struggling with OSA symptoms for at least 3-5 years before that. How old were you? Curious about typical age for onset and how that may play out in treatment over 5, 10, 20, 30 (hopefully) years.

Had symptoms since my 30s. Didn't figure it out and fix it until 59.

Had symptoms for about five years then diagnosed at 50. They kept checking for anemia and since I had it a couple of times, they wrote my exhaustion as due to that. I was even told I had mono once! Once I had a new doctor, she insisted on a sleep study, bless her heart!

Diagnosed in 2009..I was 57 I guess. Met current hubby in 2002...he didn't start complaining about my snores and stopping breathing until around 2005 or 2006. Said I never snored when we first met.
About that time (2005 or 2006) is when I first started having typical OSA symptoms like headache, nocturia, and no energy levels...also was about the time that full blown menopause it so I was blaming it on menopause..so were the docs till hubby mentioned the stopping breathing.
Anyway...everything starts to go south during menopause. So does airway tissue...sags just like boobs, butt and belly does.

Just diagnosed recently. Mid-30s (bordering on late-30s). I've had the symptoms since my teens. Hasn't been enough of an issue for me to do anything about it until my significant other kept pushing me to be tested.

Diagnosed at 64, on cpap at 64 *smile*. No long story about denial, or tried it once 10 years ago and gave up, or whatever. Diagnosed, and immediately onto cpap. Not a big believer in denying, more in improving my quality of life where I can.
I'd been hearing from the person I share a bed with about stopping breathing some for a few months, blood pressure creeping up, decided it was time to look into it. Excessive tiredness wasn't a problem, and had a job that I was doing well at that required intense concentration and attention to detail (computer work *smile*). So it was other symptoms that pushed me to go there.

Now that I know what it is I had sleep apnea back in 1976 but wasn't diagnosed until July of 2011 and I was 74 at that time.

I started snoring after having kids, mid to late 30's. In my mid 40's my husband told me I was not breathing for several seconds while sleeping. Recently, early 50's, I started waking up gasping for breath in the middle of the night. All along I thought it was no big deal until I had my "ah-ha" and "uh-oh" moment while visiting a friend in the hospital with failing lungs and heart. He wished he had taken his doctor's advice about cpap and other health issues. IT WOKE ME UP!!! I finally decided to get tested and I have been on cpap for two months.

Last Fall at age 70. I think it started about two years ago+ or-. That is when I lost energy had some depression symptoms and started gaining weight, sleeplessness and irritability, high blood pressure. Was told I was a low risk for sleep apnea. World of difference after four months of CPAP.

Diagnosed in 2000 age 40. Probably had since age 19 after a traumatic trach due to auto accident, me in small car vs 2 semi's. Semi's won. I think my damaged airway didn't heal correctly, or I may have just been prone to apnea.

Re: How old were you when diagnosed (another stupid poll type th
Diagnosed at 25, looking back at how I have slept and felt after naps and morning wakeups, I think this was a problem back in uni and quite possibly in high school. Couldn't tell you before that, between the OSA and the other stuff I think a squirrel has a better memory sometimes I would wake up having rolled out the bed nightly for quite some time though before my parents got me a queen sized bed in junior year of HS...anyone else have real active sleep like that pre-CPAP?
