Newbie,

Hah! Man, I wish CPAP would have started for me at age 31. My "personal" life for the last thirty years would have been so much better!

You see, many of us were diagnosed only after 20, 30 or 40 years of damage. I was diagnosed at age 56 and once I was educated about sleep apnea, it became clear that I certainly had sleep apnea since my mid-twenties, if not sooner.

You are not lucky to have sleep apnea, but consider yourself very lucky to get a diagnosis and start treatment before big damage is done.

Why don't you join the forum and let the members help you with adopting the CPAP process?

Good luck,
Rooster

Has anyone tried another kind of tape that isn't so hard to pull off and doesn't leave a residue of glue that needs cleaning w/alchohol? My skin is very sensitive and I don't need another thing to aggravate it. T

I think you said you're using #2080 blue painter's tape? That's as "gentle" as I know about. Heck, I had leak problems using it because it wasn't sticky enough!

I tried different tapes, even the painters blue tape. I didn't like them for different reasons, residue, possible chemical residue (blue tape), etc.

I found the paper gentle tape found in the pharmacies, is strong enough to hold my lips closed and gentle to not even have to use lipstick. It does not leave residue, hypoallergenic, etc. It is great and you can find it in walgreeens, cvs, etc.

Thanks for the tip, my painters tape works great but going to try to paper tape tonight!

I have been taping and using the 3M paper tape. It has made a significant difference for me and my graph's are fairly flat now for the whole night. I still find taping to be a bit disturbing and embarrasing. I will say though it is not that uncomfortable and it allows me to use my nasal pillows or nasal mask with sucess. I am a bit worried about it for health/safety reasons and hate to think of having to rely on it for optimum therapy.
Maybe I will try a hybrid. I am not overly thrilled about having to try a FFM because I keep reading about all the negative stuff and little positive about them.

I did receive a Respironics premium chin strap today, but I can already tell this thing is gonna suck!! Combersome, scratchy feeling and I am sure will be hotter than hell in the summer months.

I started this thread about taping. I had trouble using a FFM due to irritation of the bridge of my nose.

When the Innomed Hybrid was introduced, it was the answer for me because it did not touch the nose bridge and you can even wear eyeglasses and read or watch TV while wearing the mask.

This thread, viewtopic/t56792/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56 ... 39#p533439 , explains why the Innomed Hybrid is superior to the ResMed Liberty.

Here, wiki/index.php/Hybrid_Mask_Modifications , is a wiki on using and adjusting the Innomed hybrid.

In my experience the pillows on the Innomed are more stable and leak free than nasal pillows alone. This is because the mouthpiece they are inserted in is very stable itself.

I want to try out this hybrid. If I am size large on the nasal masks, would I be a large as well on the hybrid? Do they make a soft gel hybrid? I really like the Resmed Soft Gel cushion.

I taped for 4 years -- but came to a point where I had to switch to full face mask - and the Hybrid turned out to be the best for me too (tried 3 others before that).

The Hybrid comes with all sizes of cushions, and all sizes of pillows - you don't have to guess which size will be right for you.

If you get the original Innomed Hybrid you do not have to worry about sizing. Read the link I posted: viewtopic/t56792/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56 ... 39#p533439

Innomed supplies it with all three sizes of mouth cushions and all three sizes of nasal pillows.

I have been taping my mouth at night for over five years after trying almost every chin strap on the market. In order to remove the tape in the morning, I apply a flannel soaked in warm water to the taped area. After about two applications, I drag the flannel downwards from under my nose, and watch the tape peeling off quite easily, leaving no adhesive. It has been working every time for me over five years. Try it you will like it!

An old thread but still relevant. Some people hop in the hot shower and then when the tape gets wet and warm, slowly pull it off. Maybe a little soap to speed things along.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
