no dry mouth with APAP

Post by tomjax » Thu Jun 01, 2006 5:15 am

One of the very surprises of being on APAP since Nov 05 is that I do not wake up with a totally dry mouth any more.

I have never understood why or how cpap caused me to wake up many mornings with a completely dry mouth anyway nor do I understand why it is not there now that I have APAP.

Anyone else have this happen and care to explain it?

Assuming you used humidification and the same mask with both units, maybe you're using less pressure with the APAP? Maybe the relief of C-Flex helps? Maybe you were mouth breathing before and you're not now?

Thank's to less pressure and c-Flex, I think they get the credit.

I think the higher pressure of constant cpap was making you mouth breath. Now you spend most of the night at a lower pressure, and the low pressure doesn't force your mouth open.

Good Job.

Yet another reason to have an AUTO......
