At 80% relative humidity, I may only use a quarter tank a night; but at 15% RH, I can run through 12-14 ounces in 8 hours.

Thanks for coming to my rescue, Gary... it all depends on where you live, the heating system your home uses, the time of year. I'm in Minnesota, maybe Logs lives near a swamp or some other damp place. In the summer, with our humidity, I'll likely not need as much water, if any - I just started using CPAP a month ago so I don't know how it will change.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

When I started with this contraption, BiPAP, I used about 1/2 a tank overnight. That was in the fall when we have high humidity here in Michigan. Now, my tank is empty after 7 hours of sleep every day. When it is very cold outside I can not add enough moisture to the house. So, depends on where you live for sure...
Personally, I wash my tank typically each week and I use distilled water at home, purified water when I travel outside the USA as I have not found distilled water when I travel typically. Once I used tap water in Germany for a week - was I surprised on the crud left after only a week in the tank... to each their own I think on this topic

I empty my chamber daily and rinse it out with cold tap water... let it air dry and then fill with distilled water nightly. I haven't found the setting that uses up all the water over 9 hours of usage, but i keep trying.

Hmmm- today I think I discovered the reason to clean the chamber daily-
I was using a water bottle to hold water, thinking things are fine and just put new water each time-
and wash once in awhile. Well, today when I was drying the bottle that I thought was clean, I saw green stuff appear on the paper towel I was using to dry it-
So, I think even though things look clean in the water chamber, it is important to clean because of the potential green stuff that can build up with the water in there.
Basically I have made the decision today to clean out my water chamber every day instead of just once in a while (lesson learned from seeing the buildup in my water bottle) . . .

I assume that you don't use distilled water in your water bottle. My year old water chamber is over a year old and has been emptyed and cleaned 2-3 times in that period. It is crystal clear.

These items, which can have a big impact on water usage, seem to have been overlooked in this thread:
- Large unintentional leak.
- Use of nasal interface while mouthbreathing.
- High pressure setting, 16 cm and up.
- Mice taking baths.
