What are you buying so much of???????

I go a couple of years without buying anything. Hoses and masks last forever. If you keep a clean house (and my wife does), air filters last a year. What else is there?

Our house is spotless dust wise, HEPA filtration on A/C, and I can't imagine going a year on a filter lol

So the cost of a few filters justifies a "thru-the-roof" rating?

Resmed recommends changing filters every 6 months...more often if necessary. Cost of less than $5 each, I guess if you inspect the filter and it is 'clean' you could go longer.

Funny; Resmed says change the filter every 6 months, Medicare says twice a month.
One consequence of running with a dirty filter is strain/short life on the blower motor.
Ah, yes, I think I understand.
--But we must address the initial question!
How much are your deductible and copays; and what supplies do you need to replace?
Many of us who have inadequate (or no) insurance buy cushions, filters, masks, and
other supplies from the sponsors of this forum, cpap.com.
Still others buy from online sellers, like those on Amazon, etc.
Edit: If even those prices distress you, consider how much you would pay for a good nights sleep.
Think how much a good bed costs--cpap can help your sleep even better.

It was just a question of personal curiosity for me,
What are you buying so much of???????
.

I spend almost nothing and the OP made me wonder if I am doing something wrong?

I really agree that for many, it is not necessary to spend a lot on supplies. I have a Medicare Complete policy that follows the Medicare schedule, but, I cant see getting something new if the old one is functioning properly. My Quattro mask is close to two years old with the original headgear. I have changed silicone twice and I am still using both. (I boiled them both yesterday and they look like new). My hose is about a year old. I do change filters every 6 months even though mine look very clean. I do have back ups on everything...just in case.

It took me over 20 masks to find the one I use now.
I shudder to think of the nightmare caused when a really awesome mask is discontinued,
I plan to stock up on spare parts because the really great stuff always goes away.
ALWAYS
example: My best bra is over 3 years old; I hate my purse (no G-D pockets--WTF),
and my shoes are ugly because that's all I could find that doesn't hurt.
---Insurance so I can sleep treated beyond the horrible day when some turkey wants to say it's over.

Is English not your first language?

I presume you mean "Rotech Healthcare"? "Rotec" is a company which makes rotary engines.

I also suggest you do a Google search on "Rotech Healthcare" regarding their financial status.

Along with what the others have asked......."What are you buying that costs so much?"
Other than my original purchase nine years ago, I've purchased all of my extra machines, masks, hoses and other supplies out-of-pocket. I'm stocked up for a very long time with the items that work for me.

I spent less money in 2011 and 2012 than my deductible; so I bought nothing locally!
Edit: and the first 7 months of 2013!

Rude about what? I saw a post with lots of spelling errors, so I was wondering if this person's first language was something other than English. Either that or he didn't have a spell checker.

And the spelling of "Rotech" / "Rotec" was also a spelling error. Just pointing out the differences in the two companies.
"Rotech" has had lots of financial problems over the years.

On the contrary, for nearly nine years I've tried to be VERY helpful to the vast majority of people looking for information on the forum.

Are you a real fireman or is that just your avatar?
I spent about 9 years on volunteer fire departments between 30 and 40 years ago.
