Can you not afford an IN LAB study, nor even an AT HOME study for less than $700?
Would you mind telling me a little bit more about the At Home study?
Thank you
The at Home study I am thinking of ALSO requires a prescription but I am thinking that is not too hard to get.

Find a sleep doc or even a GP/Family doc who understands you can't affor the big time lab study and will write the Rx for the sleep study.

Take it, find out what you have, what type, what mix of apnea events, and the doc or you can figure out pretty much what you need.

Try here http://axgsleepdiagnostics.com/ $650 unless you live in the Sacramento area then it is about 10% cheaper.

Ask questions here: http://www.freecpapadvice.com

You will get more help HERE on THIS forum (CPAP Talk) about doing the self-treatment, but the guy that runs the above site is involved with the full home sleep study (which is unlike many since it actually includes EEG and can tell if you are asleep and what state of sleep you are in.

Once you find a doc who will write the prescription for the study, and the results show you are need the therapy the same doc will likely write that prescription as well.

Then you can buy on the secondary market, or from the nice folks at this forum's host, https://www.cpap.com for new (and some use equipment too I think.)

CPAP.com is probably the best Internet sales site that I have EVER SEEN for ANY PRODUCT, not just CPAP stuff, and I have been shopping on the Internet since the beginning of the commercial Internet (over 15 years.)

I buy from them when it is *my* money but have to use other sources when the insurance company is paying -- some insurance will pay full value at CPAP.com but mine would double my deductible and thus my costs AND my yearly max if I am "out of plan".

I did buy my favorite mask from them (Airfit P10 Nasal Pillow mask).

Do not forget that a dentist may also be able to write a prescription for cpap supplies,
but may still be bound to using test results.
Edit: as appealing and logical that making cpap OTC is,
this would effectively excuse insurance companies and Medicare from covering it at all.

I was wondering that today! With all of the things available to us, why in the world would CPAPs being prescription only. It's like making a wheel chair RX only.
