Resmed S9 autoset
I have two nights of data from my new machine and I'm ready to start looking at data. However, I'm in the 90-day big brother period and I don't want to lose any of the data on my card before the insurance company looks at it. Sleepyhead software will not remove data from my card, correct?
Does Sleepyhead erase my card data?

Re: Does Sleepyhead erase my card data?
Correct. SleepyHead doesn't remove anything. There's no provision for it to do anything to the SD card.
If you are using a Mac...you might want to slide the SD card to "read only"....that little tiny plastic thing on the side.
Also if you are using Windows 8.xxx might want to do the same.
It seems like the computer OS sometimes adds a little file to the SD card...the S9 won't accept the SD card with an unknown file on it and will want to reformat the SD card.
Older versions of Windows don't seem to do it..and I have never had an issue with my SD card from my S9 and I don't write protect it...but then I don't care if it happens. I don't mind erasing the card.
When in doubt or when it matters...never hurts to add that little extra level of protection by changing the SD card to read only.
SleepyHead itself has nothing to do with it though. Same thing could happen with ResScan.

Re: Does Sleepyhead erase my card data?
This is all good advice, thank you! It's been awhile since I used any sort of physical storage media, so I forgot about the slider.

Re: Does Sleepyhead erase my card data?
Oh...forgot to mention. If you forget to slide the little lock thing back on the SD card if you write protect it, the S9 simply won't start. I had that happen last night.
I must have accidentally slid the lock thing part way, not the first time, and when I put it back in the S9 I didn't watch it to see it recognize the SD card..it will tell you if it can't write to the card... so I go to bed and the darn machine won't come on. So I have to get up and turn the lights on and fiddle just a bit with things till I looked on the screen and saw the little message.
I didn't know that the S9 simply wouldn't start if the SD card was in read only but I guess it won't. Learn something new almost every day.
For anyone reading this...I know my profile shows a PR S1...the S9 I am using is the Adapt and I haven't decided if it will be my primary machine but I suspect it will be...only been using it a month now.

Re: Does Sleepyhead erase my card data?
Macs DO write to "disks" (or data sources like the SDCard).
Windows had never done that in the past.
There is some belief that Windows 8/8.1 might be doing that and the recommendation to lock your card won't hurt you if you remember to do that.
I don't both, despite running 8.1.
I have been doing this everyday since I forgot to lock it the first time, and I just checked my card for hidden files that the OS might have deposited; there are none.
Go ahead and lock it but don't panic if you forget.
