Need Advice on New DME

Post by SMenasco » Tue Feb 11, 2014 4:39 pm

My DME was not a successful bidder so I have to find a new source. American Home Patient was recommended. I called and they told me I needed a new Rx, a meeting with sleep doc and copy of sleep study. I did this, took the paperwork to Tulsa office, was told someone would call. A week later, no call. I called them, they never heard of me, but would check, put me on hold for over an hour. I finally hung up, thinking they either lost my paper and didn't want to talk, or forgot I was on hold. Not sure I want to pursue this with them. Other contractors approved in the area are Lincare and Apria. Any comments? And has anyone used the mail order online group ionsleep? Thanks.

That's awful customer service and just opposite to what I received from American Home Patient.

If it was my advice that sent you to them then I apologize -- they have been really good to me (so far.)

Of course, I was dealing with a local office and an initial prescription sent over by, and at the recommendation of, the sleep doc's office.

The thing I liked BEST about American Home Patient was that they offered me 3 "top of the line" machines with the extras and didn't try to stuff some brick into my hand.

My DME told me that they couldn't get the Resmed AirFit P10. The usual nonsense b/c they were able to get Resmed products for me before.

So, I called American Home Patient. They said they could get the mask. So, I gave them all the info they needed to get started. They did ask a lot of questions and we were on the phone at least 30 minutes. They said that since I was new to them that it could take several weeks to verify my info. That someone would keep me updated as to their progress in obtaining the info they needed. Okay... at least they were honest.

They didn't need anything from me regarding a script or sleep study data. They said they would get whatever was needed from the doctor.

So far so good.
