mask leaks
Re: mask leaks
The green apneas are where the machine sensed some sort of event but the leaks were so bad it didn't know what to call it.
Resmed says 24 L/min is where large leak territory begins.
We don't see the 24 L/min line easily on that report but the 30 L/min line is easily seen and I think you can see that you still are having problems with leaks...way to much stuff above 30.
When you start getting above 40 L/min the machine has trouble deciding what to call an event and you are having a bunch of whatever because the leak is so bad it is allowing events to materialize.
Did you use a chin strap last night?
Is your mouth dry this morning?
That wake up at 7:30 and you went back to sleep...why did you wake up? Any idea?
The time around 6 AM where the cluster of events started....were you maybe sort of awake at that time?
We don't know if the centrals were in response to the pressure or just awake/semi awake junk. Will still keep an eye on them but leaks are your main issue that need to be fixed right now.
You had some time where leaks were acceptable...unfortunately more time was spent where it was unacceptable.
Still better than the full face mask though where essentially none of the time was spent acceptable.

Re: mask leaks
I have a 14 pressure. Normally I use a Mirage Quattro that only leaks at the bridge of my nose. It's controllable if I'm
careful of my sleep position. I spent the last couple weeks attempting to get used to a Liberty. It controls the leaks
no matter what position I sleep in, but it's just too uncomfortable to stay with. You might give that one a shot if you
can try it for no cost.

Re: mask leaks
How would you rate your sleep quality last night? Did you have trouble falling asleep...staying asleep...lots of wake ups besides what we see? Or was it lights out and went to sleep in 5 minutes and no wakeups til right before you turned machine off?
Did you use a chin strap?
Can you do another awake test please?.....awake for 30 to 45 minutes while watching TV or something.
Something so we can see the leak line when we know for sure your mouth is closed and see if that leak line is flat where it should be.
Some of the central events seem to correlate with leak spikes...so unsure if we are seeing sleep wake junk centrals or centrals that we need to worry about. Hence the questions about sleep quality..if you were awake a lot for any reason then those may be awake/semi awake centrals.

Nope, Mac version shows leaks too.
Is leak the only graph that is missing?

Re: mask leaks
I don't have a Mac but we have lots of Mac users here with S9 machines and yours is the first time I have heard of a missing leak line...so...apw5746 wrote: my version v0.9.2 shows the following graphs: event flags, flow rate, ahi, mask pressure, pressure, snore, resp. rate, tidal volume, minute vent., flow limitation, insp. time, & exp. time. unless pressure stands for leaks, then it doesn't have it.
Go to Preferences/Graphs tab and look to see if you have a check mark in Leak graph...or if leak graph is even shown.
If it is shown but no check mark...put a check mark in it.
If it is shown and there is a check mark already in it...we have a problem.
If it is not even offered...we have a problem.
Might want to take this discussion to a thread of your own if we have a problem...it's going to get lost in here and the Mac users probably won't ever see it. It will get lost here and you won't get the help you need.

Of the above graphs, are there any that I don't need? I would like to concentrate on only those that are meaningful.apw5746 wrote:my version v0.9.2 shows the following graphs: event flags, flow rate, ahi, mask pressure, pressure, snore, resp. rate, tidal volume, minute vent., flow limitation, insp. time, & exp. time. unless pressure stands for leaks, then it doesn't have it.Pugsy wrote:apw5746 wrote:I notice the graph shows leaks. Re: mask leaks
I only bother with these graphs.apw5746 wrote: Of the above graphs, are there any that I don't need? I would like to concentrate on only those that are meaningful.
Events graph
Flow rate graph
Pressure graph (when using auto adjusting pressures only..if using fixed pressure it isn't going to change)
Leak graph
Flow Limitation or Snore (S9 users only) only if there is much activity on it
AHI graph isn't needed...all it does is show an hourly index based on that one hour...not the entire night and often scares the heck out of people when someone has one ugly cluster. Only useful if someone has a really big cluster of something and even then it's better to go to the events section to see them..IMHO
Mask Pressure graph..if you notice it pretty much mimics pressure graph...so it really isn't needed and again if using a fixed pressure...it isn't going to change.
So I only really turn off the mask pressure and AHI graphs. By turning those off the other stuff I look at comes into viewing range...and the other stuff requires me to scroll which I won't do anyway so it doesn't really matter if they are there or not but I leave them showing since it doesn't hurt anything.
Mainly I just look at what I need to evaluate the therapy...events, leak, and the events graph....with a quick look at the AHI on the left side to get event category breakdown so that I don't manually have to count the events I see on the events graph.
I glance at pressure graph to see how it responds to events but then I use auto adjusting pressures so sometimes it might tell me something.
If I used fixed pressures then I wouldn't bother looking at it.
Takes me longer to import/download my data than it does to evaluate it.

Re: mask leaks
I think I fell asleep within 10 minutes. Since I switched from a ffm to a nasal mask. I am starting to feel much better. No headache the last 4 days, and less fatigue. I had been getting headaches for the last month on a daily basis. I only remember waking up once in the middle of the night. I started with a head strap, but when I woke up it was not on, so not sure when it fell off. I also think when my mouth is closed the air comes out through my lips. Should I try taping, I think I saw that on here somewhere?
I did another awake test for an hour , and only a couple leaks, very minimal. I see my ipap is pretty close to 20, should I raise it back to 24, right now it is set at 16 and 20.
Or maybe lower it for mask leak purposes. Thanks Bennnyp

Re: mask leaks
No, don't raise your IPAP yet. I don't like the centrals we are seeing and especially since you say you feel you slept decently most of the night.
Your AHI is most centrals at this point...don't know if they are related to pressure at this point or not but raising the pressure wouldn't fix them anyway and might make them worse.
In general we use EPAP to address Obstructive Apneas and IPAP for hyponeas when using bilevel pressures.
Your leaks are still uglier than I would want to see on a prolonged basis...but still a lot better than you had been seeing and likely explains why you are feeling better. You are actually getting some therapy where as before with the massive leaks you really weren't getting much therapy.
Yes, let's try taping your mouth at least for one night to see what happens.
The chin straps...too easy to come off as you found out.
I used blue painter's tape...horizontally. It comes off fairly easily if need be but yet strong enough to remind mouth to keep lips shut. Whatever tape you use..give it a try while awake and also try opening your mouth to see how difficult it is or isn't.
I don't want the lips cemented shut.

Re: mask leaks
Since my S9 AutoSet is in CPAP mode I didn't bother with pressure or mask pressure. All I have now is event, flow rate, leaks, & snore. I don't yet know how to post screen shots otherwise I'd do it. I'm not dead yet, but I know I could improve.Pugsy wrote:I only bother with these graphs.apw5746 wrote: Of the above graphs, are there any that I don't need? In the meantime, I'll play with this Mac and just might figure how to post a screen shot. Then everybody and their brother can comment.

Never having used a Mac I don't know how to get a screen shot but once you get it all you do is upload it to some photo hosting website.
