Thanks for the quick reply! I will call them tomorrow. But I know I'm getting an auto. Is the 260 an auto? My pressure range on my prescription is 8-12.

Oh...you have a prescribed pressure range of 8 to 12....that should meet the requirements for the APAP...model 560.
I didn't realize you had a range of pressures that were actually written down. Most of the time the RX says cpap at so and so pressure..like 10 cm with no range and when that happens a plain basic cpap machine will satisfy the requirements..and that's what Medicaid will pay for.

So disregard what I said about the 260...I didn't realize that your RX stated a range of pressures. That makes it a totally different ball game.
Medicaid should allow whatever is necessary to fulfill the RX and that range means APAP mode.

Does that machine offer all the information everyone here says is necessary?

Anyone looked at Respironics SleepMapper?

The PR System One 60 Series Auto CPAP...model 560
is a great machine and will give you lots of information (probably more than you will know what to do with from SleepyHead )

EncoreGuide link this will show you examples of what you will see. For a different machine than yours but the basics are the same.
http://www.healthcare.philips.com/pwc_h ... _Guide.pdf

And SleepyHead give you even more. Check out the links in my signature.

SleepMapper...pretty lame. Don't waste your computer time with it..plus it is hard to remove from your computer and wants to connect to the internet every time your SD card gets inserted...which is highly annoying...nothing should ever try to access the computer unless you tell it to on purpose...and there was no way to tell it to wait. I hate that.
All it showed was hours used, total AHI and were there any large leaks...same as on the machine. It's not worth the effort.
I posted an example of the report a while back here on the forum. I can't find it right now.

I'm really happy to know I'm going to be getting a good machine. I'm really hoping that once my OSA is controlled that my bipolar will become easier to control. Until now it's been pretty difficult to get it under control.

As far as Medicaid goes, my DME told me that the MCO plan I'm on works a lot like Medicare for this. The machine will be rented for 13 months. My copay will be 4 bucks a month and my replacement schedule is the same as Medicare. Kentucky is a Medicaid MCO state. We pick from 4 different providers in the beginning and have to specify a PCP.

So I assume it's mine after 13 months and until then I'll need to meet compliance or have it yanked?

EDIT: I'll download SleepyHead tomorrow and look into what all that stuff means.

If the compliance stuff goes along with what Medicare does then most likely 90 days will be all they will watch for compliance.
For Medicare it is 4 hours (or more a night) or 70% of 30 nights with a face to face with the doctor sometime between the 31 and 90 days of use mainly to just say you are using it and it is helping. So 3 months..is all that Medicare might watch and then really only a 30 day period.
Your DME should be able to give you the time frame but I suspect 3 months. Ask them for specifics though...just to make sure you get all the hoops jumped through.
I doubt they will want to watch you the entire 13 months though.

I'm glad I found this place. Thanks so much to everyone that's taken time to answer my questions. I don't feel overwhelmed anymore, just anxious to get started and hopeful that it's going to greatly improve my life.

I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get started!

I think you are going to be just fine! Take your time reading here, absorb what you can and then read some more. Lots of caring people here who will always take the time to answer your questions.

I think it will be no time before you start paying it forward. Now, that doesn't mean you won't have ups and downs along the way, but I think that your good attitude is a great start!

You have already got some great advice here, I just want to reiterate...be patient and give yourself time to adjust. If you don't wake up the next morning feeling like a new person, THAT'S OK Just wear it again the next night and the next until it starts to not feel like such a scary, foreign object. And the right mask is crutial to your success. Remember, it is unlikely that you will fall in love with a mask because, well, it's a mask. However, find one that stays put with minimal leaks and that you feel like you can live with. If it's not the first one, tell your DME. Good luck to you, don't be scared, you will feel better soon!
