CPAP and Teeth Gums

Post by Johnnysneakers » Mon Feb 03, 2014 3:14 pm

have been on a CPAP for about 10 years now.
My dentist has told me I have severe receding gums on my two front teeth (uppers). This is where the mask puts pressure above my upper lip. I will have a gum transplant to restore these damaged gums which is a costly and uncomfortable operation. However I worry that the new gums will be affected by the pressure from the mask so I am searching for a new mask which does not put pressure on this area. None I have seen seem to prevent this problem and surely I am not alone with this dilemma.

I would really like to hear from others with same problem. Seems like an unintended consequence of the CPAP masks. HELP, please.

Could you please tell us what model/size of mask you wear?
Then we could picture how it fits on you and suggest masks to help.
It sounds like your cushion is too large. They should not ride over your upper gums.

I've been on cpap for about 4 months, using a full face mask. My lower canines i can tell are receding. It's sucks. I am scared that i'll need gum grafting at some point.
