I've never been diagnosed with a deviated septum, but I have broken my nose 3 times. I have a DR appt next week, so we'll see what the doc says then.

Ah, that could be why you're struggling with nasal irrigation. Good luck with the doc visit. Let us know what happens.

If you're using a neti pot, always always always use distilled water, there is a link to that brain eating amoeba and neti pot usage. Granted, it's still incredibly rare, but better safe than sorry.

You are more likely to be killed by a gallon of distilled water falling off the cupboard shelf and hitting you in the head. Or your distillation unit exploding.

If anyone is going to try Alkalol sinus rinse, use caution and read the instructions. WOW minty menthol crossed with razor blades, I didn't read the instructions very well. However my nose hasn't felt this clear in years.

Nozzlenut,

It almost sounds like your method of "not reading the instructions" was actually a GOOD THING.

Was it worth the excitement you endured?

Also: I tried one of the NeilMed SinuGators starting last night and so far I like it a lot.

Better than the NeilMed bottle for being gentle and not filling ALL of my sinuses.

Maybe not as useful or at least not as quick at getting through STUBBORN OCCLUSION.

It works. It was pretty cheap. $25 with a small supplie of saline packets (which like I said we save for travel and just make our own at home.)

JUST A QUICK QUESTION. CAN YOU JUST GO AHEAD AND MIX UP A GALLON AT A TIME? I KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE TO PROBABLY SHAKE THE CONTAINER UP EVERYTIME BEFORE YOU POUR IN THE 8 oz BOTTLE. I HAVE EARLY VA APPOINTMENTS SOMETIMES AND DRIVE A COUPLE OF HOURS TO SEE MY DR AND WITH MY INSOMNA I AM SOMETIMES CRUNCHED FOR TIME. I FIND IN THE MORNING I FEEL BETTER AFTER CLEANING MY NASAL PASSAGE. I JUST HAD THE SURGERY SO I AM NEW TO THIS BUT IT HELPS ME BREATHE EASIER.

If you are a CPAP user, know that many CPAPers find benefit by also doing a saline nasal rinse shortly before going to bed.
