First 0.00! and NO Smiley in SleepyHead

Post by Bill44133 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 7:12 am

Well, I finally had my night of 0.00 AHI and I flipped the tab to daily, and NO Smiley just a question mark
Does SleepyHead know something I don't know?

I never had a smiley show up on version 0.9.3 ,,Just that little question mark....never knew why

Since I have been using the 0.9.4 unstable build I get the smiley face with 0.0 AHI....this is with the Adapt.
Same question mark in 9.9.3

Prior to the Adapt....There was always at least one something or other to prevent me from have 0.0

This all pertains to the Windows versions....I have no idea if the Mac versions did the smilely.

I have version SleepyHead v0.9.3-0. Build Date: May 18 2013 21:42:27.

I was kind crushed that it didn't show up. Oh well, doesn't matter I slept 8 hours 15 minutes and I feel good that is what matters.
I am ready to take on all the world is going to hand me today! I got my psychological boost for the day.

On a PR System One, to get that coveted Smiley requires having the FL index = 0.0 and the RERA index = 0.0 if I recall correctly as I recall. I don't know if the VS index also has to be 0.0.

Yeah, that's the build date that I had when I got the little question make in 0.9.3

but I am also playing with the unstable builds (which are actually quite stable) and I got a huge Mr Smiley this morning.
You might try the unstable build if you want to....I think it still has to be opened with the application.exe file as I don't think that there is an installer yet for 0.9.4

Aliens paid me a visit last night...machine shows turned off at 5 AM but I didn't wake up and remove mask until about 7 AM.
The short hose from the mask had come loose from the long hose...the aliens did it...I am just sure of it.
So from 5 to 7 I was breathing through the mask.....and having apneas I am sure because I was dreaming that I couldn't breath and when I woke up I had to pee immediately ...and lots of it....which I never do if I get good therapy/

2 hours with just the mask...no machine to help out....I predict my butt will be dragging today.

Congratulations on the 0.0 !!! Whoeeee!

This is a naive question:

Is it typically true (or just you) that if you sleep well with a low AHI then you will NOT need to get up for the bathroom and even on waking won't feel a lot of urgency?

(Of course everyone is different but is that common?)

It's fairly common to have nocturia go away with optimal cpap therapy if sleep apnea is/was the only cause of the nocturia (or really full bladder upon awakening) because with optimal therapy the stress hormone (ANP) isn't dumped into the blood stream and this hormone is what tells the kidneys to go to work and when kidneys go to work urine is produced.
Prior to cpap therapy I was getting up to urinate about every hour or so and my bladder was painfully full..
Nocturia is a common symptom of sleep apnea because of this hormone that gets produced when the body is under stress.
With effective cpap therapy the stress hormone is no longer dumped into the blood stream.

Now of course sleep apnea isn't the only cause for nocturia but unless someone has some other cause for the nocturia most people will find that the nocturia is either greatly reduced or goes away totally.

You can google sleep apnea and nocturia to find lots of reading...and it has been discussed often on this forum.
Here's one thread where we talked about it.

Since I started my therapy on April 30, 2013 I can sleep the whole night without having to get up for the bathroom. That was
another of the positive side effects for me.

I often get 0.0 but unfortunately I still have to get up and move around after about 6 hours of sleep because of arthritis and a bladder that needs to be emptied but thanks to CPAP, I have very little trouble going back to sleep for another two or three hours.

Woohoo, great for you!

I have yet to get 0.00 AHI but I no longer wake up for bathroom breaks and my blood pressure is way down.

While loading my data this morning into SleepyHead I noticed my perfect 0.00 night was gone

I forgot that I layed back down yesterday morning for about half hour, and when I was laying down the machine gave me hypopnea.
