want a new mask

Post by Luvdawgs1 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 4:51 am

Hi everyone! I'm new on this forum. Is there a way for me to buy the parts separately for a new mask that I want for use with my cpap without having a prescription?

Yes - you can get them from DME's, online or otherwise, and no Rx is needed. Most online dealers have sections on parts to look at.

I even found an eBay dealer who would sell me ALL of the 'parts' for a new mask at a discount over the whole mask.

He was complying with the eBay requirement not to sell masks and avoiding the need for a prescription. Parts is parts.

Just make sure when buying replacement parts that you know for sure the parts to put together a mask.

Sometimes EBay sellers have some good deals on some of the most popular masks...again...make sure you know which parts to get when buying pieces separatelhy.

I am self treating, so I have no prescription for anything. I discovered the "parts" work around
early on. Most places will accommodate you if you ask. It costs slightly more but not much.
I purchased my ResMed S9 on craigslist for a great deal. I got set up totally with the machine
and 3 new masks for less than 600.00. I have a Quattro, a Liberty, a pillow and a gel nasal.
I had to try a few masks before I found one I could tolerate. The Liberty is the best leak
manager but I'm having a hard time getting use to it and fall back on the Quattro that
I tolerate very well, but it leaks if I move around too much.

That's good advice -- and I did that by contacting him to ask. (Sellers with good reps almost never lie, but you must make sure they tell you the WHOLE truth.)

Ebay and Amazon (Used & New) are in some ways safer than other places since you have the ability to give a bad review to a seller. This works as long as your seller has a very good rep and can't afford to get hit with a bad review.

Also you get to complain to both eBay (and PayPal usually) or Amazon to get your money back if you get totally screwed.

In the last 15 years I have had to put a hold on PayPal exactly once (due to no contact from seller) -- he immediately contacted me and made it right.

Just don't buy from a seller who has a bad rep or who has "2 sales" (unless you can afford to take the chance).
Even then, I have found that I never get ripped off. YMMV
