Encore Basic Defaults

When I use Encore Basic 2.2.2.0 to download the data from the smart card there are 2 optional box's in the download screen.
1 - Erase card after successful download
2 - card is to be returned to the same patient
The default always appears with the Erase card "checked" and return card to same patient "unchecked".
I prefer the opposite when I download the data. Is there a way to set the default so that when the download in initiated it will not have the erase box checked and will have the return to same patient checked. I am concerned I erase the card data one of these times.

Go into the utilities menu in upper right corner. Select settings, in the lower left of the screen select edit. The options are at the bottom of the screen.

I found the utilities, edit settings but don't see those specific options. There is a perform the post download action that I changed from NO to YES with the drop down action box set to DO NOTHING. This did not change the way the erase and patient boxes were checked in the download screen. Should I assume it won't perform the erase? What am I missing?

I stand corrected.. That didn't do anything either on mine.

I don't think you are missing anything. I went to my Encore Basic and there was nothing in the edit settings for making changes to the default in regards to what to do after the download.

As far as I can tell...you are stuck with the defaults as is unless there is something somewhere else that I have never found.

If it is any consolation...I have accidentally erased the card once...only takes once for me to learn my lesson and slow down.
All is not lost if that should happen though. The machine stores pretty much all that you need on its internal memory (doesn't store the flow rate graphs..wave form) and you really don't lose much.

Remember that EncoreBasic was designed for DMEs and doctors offices. It never was designed for us as patients and since DMEs typically just get the SD card in the mail and run the compliance check...they never bother with sending that SD card back to a patient.....hence the default to erase...Encore Pro did the same thing.

If it bugs you too much you can always make a copy of the SD card onto your desktop prior to downloading..but that's a bit of work each time.

Encore Basic, is a cut down version of the software. 《Simple or Bare Bones》Code must be very costly. Jim

Just FWIW, in my installation of EB the default is for neither of the two boxes you mention to be checked. I have to check one or the other to proceed.

What version of EB do you have? Under Help, About mine is ver 2.2.2.0

I have same version as you and I don't think that I get a default check mark in either box ...but I am not using it at the moment to test it out.

I thought it was strange that yours defaulted to having the check mark already in place but thought maybe my memory was off (again )
I have to go to town in a bit and get beautiful..cough
will try to remember to check EB....to see what I get when I start a download.

In the past with other Encore products...when both boxes were left blank...the card contents were untouched after the download.
