No More Leaking Masks!

Post by pooperscooper » Sat Jan 25, 2014 1:59 pm

I just changed from a Quattro mask to the Liberty. I may need to have eye surgery so I want to keep my eyes from getting puffy. My nose hurt a lot the first time but it has been getting better as the days go on. It's only been a week so I think it will work out. I made a mask liner for the cushion as I did before for my Quattro. For anyone who suffers from a leaking mask, you should give this a try. I made a pattern by tracing the cushion and adding about and inch or so all the way around, leaving the breathing hole the same size. I cut my liners out of flannelette but old T-shirts would work good too. Just place them between the cushion and your face when you put your mask on. I rinse them out in the morning and then cut new ones when they wear out. It worls awesome on the Quattro mask and so far no leaking on the Liberty. You can buy these online but it costs about $30 a month - my way is free! And your cushions may last longer. Hope this helps!

I've been looking at this one and the Hybrid. I went to my DME last night about changing masks and they have me trying another FFM, the Amara, but after one night, I'm not so sure. I'm going to give it a couple of days. He did say that I could definitely try one of the hybrid masks, though people either love them or hate them. I'm just tired of my eyes being dry!

Pad-a-cheek liners cost about $15. Mine lasted more than a year before they got frayed. Glad to hear your new mask is a success.
