Hi,
I am living in India. My father has been using Philips REM Star Auto A-Flex CPAP with Philips TrueBlue mask for the past 3 years. Since long he is the problem of nasal blockage and dryness in the throat due to CPAP usage. Whether any humidifier will solve his problem? If so, what kind of humidifier (Heated / non-heated)is recommended. Will be grateful if you can suggest some online store/website for purchasing the same.
Thanks in advance
Saravana
Heated Humidifier for Philips REM Star Auto with A-flex
Re: Heated Humidifier for Philips REM Star Auto with A-flex
There could be several things causing the nasal blockage and dryness in the throat. A saline nasal spray helps me. I use it about an hour before bedtime. I also use a dry mouth mouthwash at bedtime. I use Biotene. I don't know how readily these 2 things are available where you are.
It could also be that he is mouth breathing and may need a full face mask.
Is his machine an M Series or a System One? The System One requires a particular humidifier that snaps onto the machine. With the M Series, he could use a stand alone humidifier like the Fisher & Paykel 150.
Cpap.com, the hosts of this forum, have all these things. I don't know if they would ship to you (there are some restrictions that I mention later in the post about shipping certain brands) or what the shipping cost would be but you can check all that out on their website.
You can also look at full face masks and read customer evaluation of each mask.
The REAL problem is that cpap.com is no longer allowed (by Philips Respironics) to ship their products out of the US. The same is true of Resmed items. If you know someone in the US, you can have it shipped to them and they would have to forward it to you. That would get around the "no shipping outside the US" thing.
If he has an M Series, he can use the Fisher & Paykel 150 and cpap.com can ship Fisher & Paykel products outside the US - if they ship to your location.
They have a place on their site for you to ask questions or you could phone them. I know they will be very helpful.
I hope this helps you.
