Low SpO2 the first hour.

Post by sleepy1235 » Sun Jan 19, 2014 2:47 pm

My SpO2 is low the first hour, below the red line, and then climbs most of the night and then levels off to an asymptotic limit.

Do other people have this? Is it a problem?

Incidentally there are no reported events for this period or correlation with other events.

Just curious - do you sleep on your back, or ??

Yes, I do sleep on my back.

I used to sleep on my side for the first 58 years of my life, but switch to sleeping on my back when I got the nasal plugs to avoid discomfort with the straps and my ears.

Why do you ask? Thanks.

Well, back sleeping is the worst position for provoking apneas, so if you can side sleep, maybe using a foam wedge behind you made for the purpose of keeping you there, you'd probably be better off.

I sleep on my side to keep the nasal plug straps from pressing into the side of my head.

I had asked the sleep tech about sleeping on the side and on my back and was told my pressure rating was good for both.

The last sleep doctor just said I was old. I will look into this. Thanks.
