Programing Auto Bb-ilevel Bipap M series

I am using a cpap with good success for about 1 month. Rx is for 10 cmH20. I am using a Respironics cpap REM Star Pro M series with c-flex.

I acquired a Respironics BiPap Auto M series with bi-flex. Trying to program it for the same Cpap RX but use the auto feature. When I enter the program mode the is a choice of Bi-Level or Auto B-Level. When I begin the program in Bi-Level mode the Ipap and Epap can both be set to 10 and the unit seems to work the same as the Cpap version with a constant output of 10. However, when I begin the programming in Auto Bi-level with a max Ipap of 15, min Epap of 5 and a PS of 5 the results are not what I expected. The output pressure cycles between 5 E and 7 I. I do not see a change when I use it while awake. The Ipap or Epap never change and are not 10. Can anyone explain the results I am seeing and if I should expect it to be anything different?

In Auto mode the Bipap has a default PS of 2 cm that you can't do anything about...so even with a PS setting of max of 5....when you first start the machine you are going to get PS of 2 and it won't change until you fall asleep and apnea events trigger a PS change.
This is just the way that model of Bipap does things in Auto mode. PS will roam around between that 2 cm default and whatever max PS you have set it at.

So while awake you will always see EPAP so and so and IPAP will be 2 cm above that so and so when in auto mode no matter what you have max PS set at.

Might a better starting point be max Ipap 13.0, min Epap 8.0 and max PS 5.0 ?
This setting starts out cycling 8.0 E and 10.0 I which is closer to the Cpap Rx of 10 cmH2O.
Does the LCD display of the Auto M Series have data to show where the auto setting is adjusting to ?

Not like what I think you are wanting to see.
There is software available you can use but you need the DT3500 card reader.
The onscreen averages are pretty much useless and one really needs the software to see where the pressures went.

Yes...to mimic your prior 10 cm setting....EPAP at 8...with max IPAP around 12 or 13 with PS of 4 or 5.
You will experience 8 EPAP and 10 IPAP initially which should be fairly comfortable.
