Talking about non-US online suppliers?
Talking about non-US online suppliers?
As our hosts cannot ship ResMed or Respironics to Canada (or presumably anywhere else outside the US) - what are the rules/regs around talking about the non-US suppliers (to compare what their service is like, etc...)? I ordered a few things from our hosts, but of course the bulk of the order I tried to place was for things they couldn't ship here, and I had to order from elsewhere. Curious to hear if anyone else has used the same supplier, and/or to get stories about the other options as well, but don't want to step on any toes.
Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
clinicalsleep.com in Burnaby B.C. is the one I use when I can't get what I need from our hosts. Great service, no shipping charges and no tax. I ordered a new PR 60 series last month after my M series died, I ordered it one day and it was here at 9:30 am next day.... can't beat that , less than 24 hours for delivery.

Clinicalsleep.com is one in Vancouver that most Cdns here use. They even had a rep posting here for a while.
Other people have used a shipping service to get Resmed and such from our host.

Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
So we're allowed to mention names, then? Cool.
I looked at clinicalsleep, but the prices were definitely higher. Still not what the local places were trying to charge, but higher. Canada CPAP Supply is the one I ended up going with - prices were a bit higher than our hosts, but lower than clinicalsleep. Plus we wanted some products that clinicalsleep didn't have, like the Nuance mask.
Anyone else used them? Their customer service has been pretty good so far when I've talked to them (there was a correction that needed to be made on the billing), but the order doesn't seem to have shipped yet, which seems like a while. (My card was charged on the 8th.)

Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
Canada CPAP Supply ships from Florida. Your package may have shipped on the 8th but it is going to take a while to get to Canada.
They call themselves "Canada" CPAP Supply but they are in Florida. I don't know what you paid for shipping but it may be more than most real Canadian online suppliers live clinicalsleep.com and one I have been using lately - cpapclinic.ca It is a Toronto area based supplier.

Look at Coastalsleep.com

Actually, it still says "Ready for shipment", so presumably it hasn't left yet. Hard to say, though.Hawthorne wrote:Canada CPAP Supply ships from Florida. Your package may have shipped on the 8th but it is going to take a while to get to Canada.

The shipping was only like $30, so not that much at all.
Have you ordered off the cpapclinic.ca site? I looked at them, but the APAP we were getting doesn't allow ordering. It says "For Reference Only", and that you have to call them for info. Same for the masks we were looking at. How does their pricing compare to clinicalsleep, or our hosts, do you know?
Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
Coastal sleep also doesn't have pricing on their site and makes you call. Maybe I'm just fussy since I used to work in e-commerce, but I really hate dealing with sites like that. Either have your pricing, or don't pretend to be an online store... I'm guessing you've dealt with them? How do their prices compare? If you can't order on their site, do you just have to phone them and list off what you want and give them your card over the phone?Julie wrote:Look at Coastalsleep.com
Thanks!
Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
I have ordered from cpapclinic.com but not a machine. I have ordered masks and mask parts from them as well as a cable for my cpap battery to use with my machine. They ship free to a Canadian address, as do clinicalsleep.
I find cpapclinic's prices probably about comparable to clinical sleep although I have not ordered from clinical sleep for awhile now.
When you order online from cpapclinic, the email conformation shows as an ebay seller but everything is new.

Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
The manufacturers dictate this. They have no option but to follow the rules of their suppliers. The prices when you sign in or call are different but if the show them they loose their supplier.teleute wrote:Coastal sleep also doesn't have pricing on their site and makes you call. Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
I can see having to log in, and that seems sufficient to get pricing on clinicalsleep.ca, for example. So while there might be a supplier restriction re: showing the price (although I thought I saw a couple of Canadian sites that didn't require that, but their pricing wasn't as good), it doesn't seem like it's limited to phoning only. Unless they're giving different conditions to different suppliers, which would be odd.BlackSpinner wrote: The manufacturers dictate this. Well, I guess maybe I'll make some phone calls in future. I honestly just loathe talking on the phone, especially to strangers, so it's something I avoid if there are other options...
Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
Thanks for the info! Clinicalsleep's prices were definitely higher than the ones I got, but for just the occasional mask replacement or other smaller order, that might not be a big deal. So I'll keep these options in mind for future.Hawthorne wrote:I have ordered from cpapclinic.com but not a machine. BTW, got an email re: the original order that it will ship shortly - they're just waiting on one or two items to ensure they all ship together.
Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
As an update, if anyone in future is curious about this site - they may have taken a while to ship, but they aren't messing around! Shipped today and UPS site shows it's due on Monday. So it will at least tie the cpap.com order that shipped on time, or maybe even arrive before. Now it just remains to be seen whether the paperwork or whatever is in order such that duty isn't charged...
One other heads up. canadacpapsupply.com's prices are in CAD. However, they charged me in USD. I was pretty annoyed, but when I called they said it was a mistake and they'd credit me right away, and that's already gone through. So if anyone does think about ordering from them, keep an eye out to be sure it's charged correctly!
Thanks again to those who have posted info on other Canadian options as well. Will definitely look more into those for future as well, even if I do have to actually speak to humans to do so.

Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
Which of the sites did you order from - it's not clear in your note here.
Re: Talking about non-US online suppliers?
My apologies - I thought I specified earlier. I ordered the Respironics stuff from canadacpapsupply, since cpap.com isn't allowed to ship it here. However, I still ordered a few other accessories (non Respironics or Resmed) from cpap.com at the same time.
