Heated line questions-Respironics System One

Post by DRW » Sat Jan 11, 2014 10:51 pm

I have been on Cpap Therapy for about 6 months, and I am averaging about 7 hours of sleep per night. I do not have a heated tubing line with the System one. I was comfortable through November, but now I am having sinus issues and I am taking Allegra & Flonase. I set the humidifier on 3 with System one humidification on, and I use the preheat setting before going to bed. The night starts off good, but I wake up very dry at least two times per night. I turned the humidity up to 4 and it was a little better, but my sinus issues are still a problem. We keep the heat at 72 degrees in the house although the master bedroom is a few degrees cooler. I have tried classic humidification on system one and my sinus issues are worse. Would a heated tubing line conversion kit solve my problems? I see I can buy an upgrade kit for $75.

Thanks,

DRW

Maybe, maybe not -- your flonase will dry you out as do antihistamines. You tried classic mode and that pumps out a lot of humidity.

Possibly a room humidifier and getting your sinus issues under control will help better.

I was very dry before I went on the Flonase & Allegra The Doctor added this to the equation since my nose was running when I woke up everyday. While the medicine helps, my daily congestion issues are still a problem.

How often do you change the filters? There are 2 on this unit - the black foam one that you can wash and reuse and the white one. I replace the white one every 4 weeks (looks to work for me anyway). The white one is not so white when I replace it, but not so bad that I notice a huge difference when I do. The white on is a fine filter that insures that you are getting really clean air to breathe.

The white filter is under the black one.
