Hi...I am very new...not yet gone back for second sleep study or seen Doctor since first study. When I went in for the the study, the tech showed me different masks...I had no idea what I was looking at. One that looked tolerable was a snorkel looking mask with a head/chin strap and things in the nostrils. Can anyone tell me about it? Maybe I am not giving enough info.
Also, does the Doctor make reccomendations for which mask you should use and then supply you with it...or give you a prescription? Am I buying the machine? Sure appreciate all the help....as I am still in shock!
1) Snorkel looking mask? 2) Prescription?
If you go to https://www.cpap.com/
You can look at all the masks and see which one you like.
Then you can tell your doctor which one you think is right for you!

Hi,
I've been using the nasal mask for almost a month now and had some major issues, so my respiratory therapist sent me the Respironics Comfort Lite 2. I've used it and wish I'd had it from the start. You can go to cpap.com and check out what they offer, or go to (http://www.thecpapshop.com) and check out their equipment.
You rent the machine but the mask is yours. If you require long term help, you can purchase the machine. This is what my respiratory therapist told me. You should check with your insurance company though.
A good therapist will help you select the mask that might be best for you. For instance, the one that looks like a snorkel is great for someone who's a side sleeper or even a back sleeper. Do a bit of research and then decide which one you'd like to try.
Good sleeping!
