Swift FX nasal pillow vs F&P Eson

Post by TCL1962 » Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:17 am

When I went for my titration study the therapist had me try on three mask. The first was a pillow type mask and I have no idea what brand it was. I had it on for maybe a minute while she had me lie on my back. It felt hard to exhale with that mask so I told her that. She then tried the F&P Eson nose mask on and it felt more natural to breath in. Then we tried a full face and I did not like that at all. I ened up using the Eson during the study.

When my prescription came out, it was of course with the F&P Eson mask and I have been using it for the last week up until last night and it has done well. Thanks to the generosity of a member here, I was able to get a Swift FX nasal pillow to try and so far I LOVE IT!

I don't know if it is the same one I tried at the clinic or not, but now it does not feel odd to breath with and it is so much less intrusive. I can even lay on my belly with my head to the side and it does not leak. This is a big deal for me as I tend to lay on my side/belly a good portion of the night and with the Eson, side sleeping took some careful adjustment to keep it from leaking and belly sleeping was out of the question.

The only downside at all was some minor nostril irritation on my left side, but I had some nasal gel moisturizer here and used a little of that which seemed to help quite a bit. I used the large pillows last night and will probably try the medium tonight to see how they feel.

It would be nice if it were easier to try several mask during the first month so people can find the one that is best for them. My DME said she would "work with me" but I am not sure exactly what that means.

I also started a few weeks ago with a nasal mask. Being a side sleeper I just could not get comfortable with it. I called my DME and she had me come in to try something else. I left with the Swift FX for her and have been "trying" it for almost a week. Last night it seems that my nose was a bit irritated so I decided to use my nasal mask and it was definitely a "NO" go! I guess my nose and face have decided. :c) Glad you found something you like that meets your sleeping habits!
