Ultra Mirage: NO!

Post by DEXSUZ » Sat Dec 21, 2013 3:53 pm

Tried an Ultra Mirage for a month and it beat the bridge of my nose to death. I'd been told it was an improvement over my old Quattro FX but the opposite turned out to be the case.

The structure of my nose is normal but the UM put pressure on it that made me look as if I'd repeatedly tried to go 15 rounds with Marciano.

No more.

I'm back to my QFX and last night was a trip to the good old sleeps without the pummeling of the upper bridge of my beak.

Beware of the Ultra Mirage!

Maybe you mean beware of patients with your particular nose configuration. Been using the UMFF for years with no trouble at all, as have lots of others.

The DME lady spoke well of it but my Swedish/English nose bridge couldn't handle it. The matter got to the point where I could feel my nose 'pounding' during the day after wearing UM all night. The damage (temporary) was also painful to see.

There are hundreds of masks and I now know one that works for me and one that doesn't.

Thanks, Julie.

The UMFF has been my "mask of choice" since May of 2005. I've tried a couple of others.......couldn't tolerate them for long.

Sounds like you had yours improperly adjusted. When properly adjusted, it shouldn't cause any harm or injury at all.
They perform best when very little tension is on the upper straps and most of the tension is on the lower ones.
It also helps to have a bed pillow that doesn't allow the head to sink into it.

+1 to the comments.... sounds like the Ultra Mirage is not the mask for you... but it is the mask of choice for a lot of folks.

Did you try different nose bridge adjustments?
